Question Holy Crap...

Hey guys...remember when I said my 1979 280zx N/A has an intake leak...vacuum leak at the head where the intake mates at the #1 and #6 cylinders? Remember how I said if I give the car half gas or more it makes a screechy squeal like noise, though I never got it to do it under the hood when I was under it? Dig this crap...I went to the store just a little bit ago and I don't have any of my stereo stuff hooked up so all I hear is the car. Well I have a problem with my right ear where I can only hear about half the sound most of the time until I pop my eardrum out...which I did before I left...I hear real well when I do this...I need tubes in my ear. Anyway the car started making that noise again and without the stereo and with my hearing full on the sound no longer sounds like it is coming from the front of the car. It is in fact coming from the rear hatch area and it is louder than normal with my subs out of the car.

Now, I ask you all, what is back there that can cause this sound and cause the car to loose engine power until I back off the gas less than half pedal? Fuel Pump??? It does the same thing at very slow speeds so I know it is not a weather seal leak. Also it is not the differential. Here is a link to youtube...the video is black because it is night but you can hear the engine and the noise from the floor of the hatch. The car is about at 3,500 rpm when it starts. I am going to swap the fuel pump from my turbo in to my '79 and see if it in fact fixes it.

LINK TO THE VIDEO.....though it has no picture.

I'm sure you can find a fuel pressure gauge somewhere... I believe AutoZone rents them out and you get your $$$ back upon return.

Screw it, I have nothing to lose by swapping pumps and everything to gain...I am just gonna go ahead and swap...besides, I haven't worked on the cars in a bit.

Uhh... Actually, no. Count the digits. His has 5 yours has 4. That's fractional DS3 speeds (14Mb/s > T1 = 1.545Mb/s) and since he's using the University of Utah's network, I suspect he's actually on a peering point.

I don't want you guys to freak by posting my speeds, so I'll leave it at that...

his upload blows mine away, but i see 5 digits in my download, and they are bigger digits than his. and my ping is better . not bad for a home network running through a lower end linksys router.
