a honda killed my baby..

well I was headed to work this afternoon and a moron decided they could cross traffic when I was about 30 feet from the intersection... needless to say my baby is in bad shape now. I have an insurance adjuster coming in a few days but I'm afraid she's going to be totaled.. she protected me well and still drove me home after ask was said and done.. might be in the market for another Z... I'd upload pictures but I can't figure out how from my phone

That's horrible!!! If they do total it you'll probably want to buy it back so you cna put all the good parts on your new one. How did the guy in the Honda fair?

ouch. Yeah, she looks pretty much "totaled" by insurance standards. Good thing you can buy it back for cheap and transfer all the goodies that I can see to a new one, or use a parts car to restore it! Looks like you might have just gotten...ohhhh about 2k after fixing this one to spend on her..

thats actually not as bad as it looks, pull the fenders and hood off and the bits that are bent, youll be surprized on how little damage there will be. the big thing is that the rad support looks pretty straight.

Thanks for the support guys, i really appreciate it. As for the Honda, i think it's seen the last of it's road days. I hit her square in the side between the front and rear driver doors. It was crushed in pretty bad. On a good note though i might have found a 77 280z with an lt1 already transplanted. Straight body and 85k on the motor for 2500 bucks. needs paint but who cares lol. From the pictures, what do you guys think the damages would be worth? This is my first REAL accident and I've read the horror stories with insurance adjusters. My car has 28k original miles and before this the body was in perfect shape. Funny thing was after all this my baby still took me home without a problem. I sat on the ground and pulled the fenders away from the tires and hopped in and drove away. No pull to the left or right and not a drop of any fluids on the ground. The damn thing didn't even stall when i hit her lol. I just backed up and pulled to the side after i let all of hells fury out in a screaming fit

By the way, this is my baby in all her glory before the accident

Bummer man, tough to wreck your Z. I have been there, and still have the wreck in my driveway over 8 years later. lol Anyway, hope you get it worked out, and are able to fix it back up. Or getting the 280z. Good luck with everything man.

If it still drives straight and runs your gonna prolly spend less than 500 to fix it in bolt on parts. The hardest part will be straightening the extensions the headlights bolt to and the ends of the frame but a big hammer and some wood will do wonders. Pull the parts off the front and take a pic. I agree with above. Buy it back. You'll regret not doing it

There are a lot of factors with an old classic like this... it will just depend on how the insurance company looks at it. I've gone through the buy back process twice. They start at market value, then deduct for every little flaw. Since KBB and NADA don't post that old any more, I honestly don't know what they will offer you... but I'd guess somewhere around $2k.

well when i got backed into in my work parking lot i got 1400 to fix the headlight bucket. i just got the estimate from the body shop and they sent a check. NADA still does classic values. heres a link to the 2 door coupe

1979 Nissan/Datsun 280ZX 2 Door Coupe Value, Prices & Specs | NADAguides | NADA 1979 Nissan/Datsun 280ZX Book Value & 1979 Nissan/Datsun 280ZX Retail Prices

low of 3500 and average at 6800. I'm going to make sure to have all of this info on paper when i meet with the adjuster. I'm hoping for more like 4k if they are set on totaling it. *crosses fingers* Mileage should factor in right? this car sat for years before i fixer her up. 28k original miles and the body was perfect

well the adjuster came out today. he was VERY thorough. He notated every flaw as well as every addon i did from the adjustable fuel reg all the way to the tail lights. I should have a verdict in 3-4 days. I'll keep everyone posted.

Ya i couldn't believe it when he dropped that amount on me. I've been talking to Skittle since the day of the accident about his Z. I fell in love with it the first time i saw it. I told him that i wanted it but i had to wait for the insurance company to finish their end. I'm heading his way on wednesday and I will be the proud owner of his 76 280z lt1 conversion. He has been a great help to me over the last week ,letting me vent and giving advice. I'm really excited to meet him and steal his car LOL

Was neon green, now primered. I'll throw my flare into it, nothing too flashy. I want to have it in the car show up here in Cedar city next year so i have a ton of work ahead of me. I need to put the heater back in it though. Hopefully there will be one in a wrecking yard in vegas so i can pass inspection.
