A hose between Air Flow Meter and Intake Manifold, Problem?

Hi,
I have 1982 280zx non-turbo for not long and I have now unstable idling problem. I look around air intake area and found one hose that is attached to the rubber duct hose between air flow meter and the intake manifold as you see in the picture. And it's end is not connected to anywhere.
Please help finding where that small hose supposed to be connected. And it is sitting on the air flow meter. It's other end has a clamp. It may be one of cause of unstable idling on the engine. And if you have any suggestion to tackle solving the idle problem, I greatly appreciate your suggestions.

I believe that goes to the charcoal "evap" canister on the right side of the radiator... though it looks to short to get there. Is there an open port on the charcoal canister or anywhere else?

Also make sure you've downloaded the FSM for free as it has every diagram you'd ever need for your car. www.xenons130.com/reference.html

if nothing else at least block it off. unmetered air (vacuum leaks) are the bane of the FI engine

Thank you for your quick suggestions. I did not find any nozzle on the charcoal canister or anywhere. I capped it for now.
Thank you again for those valuable links. I will familiarize myself.

Can you pull back a bit and show the entire engine, might help identify what is missing.

Valve cover

That should be able to reach the tube coming out of the side of your valve cover. In the "Engine Fuel & Emissions Control System" section of your FSM page 4 of 126 in the PDF, it clearly shows where it goes.

Hi, I thank you very much that someone like you actually try to help one has problems.
First picture is from manual FSM page 4 of 126. I see a larger hose from the air flow meter goes to the valve cover. And it is not the one I have problem with small size hose from large rubber connector between the air flow meter to the intake manifold.

And next one is the top view of the area.

And next one is the hose that I can't figure out where it should be connected.
[IMG][/IMG]
This is how it looks without the hose.

Finally, it is how I capped it.

However, two small hoses are connected and not the one like yours. And there is no other nozzle is available.
