How much money do you have into your Z??????

I'm guessing he is WELL over 20K by now...
I'm almost there ( 20K ) and I have almost nothing to show for it other than a car that looks really good on film or from ten feet away
Rod.

With the power to weight ratio, yes, it definitely has the potential to fly to the moon.
Just about everything on the car has been redone and a LOT of it has been modified, sometimes two or three times to get it exactly the way I want it.
And I still haven't decided if I'm going to swap over to ITB's. It depends on what the dyno says when it's all back together.
The interior was stripped down just as much as the engine bay. There are absolutely NO remnants of the original paint anywhere on this car.
If you were to strip it down, you would think it came from the factory with 350Z Pike's Peak White.
And almost no one has seen the new hood...

Lets just say that being here in Iraq for a year and my paychecks being tax free, I am able to save quite a bit. So Lets just say I clear $20k. Now that is some serious cheese to spend on my Z. I really want to get my engine redone and maybe raise the compression. Not to sure if I want to do a turbo conversion yet or not. Lets just see when I get back home. I also have an F-250 with a 351w that I want to work on too. But most of my cash will go toward the fire power of the Z. Wish I was near a few of you to help me spend my hard earned cash. I want to have my car fit me. I want it to have power and comfort. I like to drive, and being in the mountains of Colorado I want the power to pass anything and anyone crusing up those roads heading toward the sky. Any pointers throw them my way. Thanx. I hope you end your tour safely and git yer butt back here pronto!
$2500 - you can get a really nice engine rebuild done.
$2500 - Then, I would go with a stand alone fuel management system, either SDS or MSnS and convert your AFM to a MAF from a first gen 300ZX. If you don't do it yourself, it'll cost about another $2k installed then spend another $500 on real dyno tuning.
$1500 Full suspension installed - shocks/struts, springs, sway bars, bushings and strut tower bars.
$1000 for a Precision Gear - Power Brute LSD assembly installed
$500 for a new clutch and throw out bearing
$700 - $600 or $700 for new tires
$150 for braided brake lines and DOT 4 synthetic brake fluid
$100 for RedLine tranny & diff gear oil
$50 for RedLine engine oil
-------------
$9000 for driveline and mechanicals
$3500 Air dam, decent rear wing and a paint refresh
$1000 - for a set of Z32 power seats custom installed
$500 for a new carpet kit and some good vinyl spray paint to even any sun fading that may have happened to the interior plastics.
$1000 for an excellent and tastefully installed stereo
-----------
$6000 for interior
$15,000 and you're done!
My understanding is there is a pretty large Z car club in Colorado, so they should be able to steer you to the right places to get quality work done on your car.
Now you have $5k left for your truck!
P.S.
If I were you, I'd get enough into the F-250 to make it reliable and put the rest into a long term investment. If you're anything like my other friends in the service, you have a bad habit of living from paycheck to paycheck! And you're going to need a reliable form of transportation while your Z is getting worked on.

Right on. Damn you sure know how to blow 15g's in a hurry. Well good thing my pickup is already in great condition. Guess it just leaves me with time for the Z. So thats my truck I will be towing my Z back to Tx. with. I will be driving the Z a lot once Im in Tx. Gets a wee bit better gas milege.
