Not rare at all compared to the total production numbers. The t-top wasn't even a standard option until the 82 model year.

Any of the '79 will be a slick top - in fact the only slick tops here in Canada seem to be '79 and those are uncommon. That being said there are WAY more slick tops in the USA. We tend to get only the high end versions of most of Nissan's sports cars and at a premium price as well....

I'm still upset that my 79' has a big hole cut in the roof for the "awesome aftermarket moon roof". My parts 79' had a good one, but I don't want to spend the cash to have it swapped over.

I converted my 2+2 slicktop to t-top. It's a very long process when done properly. You don't just chop the pillars and weld on the new roof (as some people have done). That kills the rigidity / strength. The pillars are layered and you have to open them up and spot weld from the inside out. Good times.

Actully t tops are very easy to install #1 get wasted #2 give the car the finger "very important step but don't fall down" #3 grab the ol saws all out # 4 cut your t tops out. #5 laugh like hell "also very important but don't pass out! " My beater. a fine 89 ford probe drove to work for a few months with no strength issues until we did jump it "Duke style" and ya it failed
