I can't choose...
A couple weeks ago a guy backed into my car and put a big dent in the rear quarter panel. I got the dent appraised and we worked it out so that he just gave me $500 in cash and that was the end of it. Well with $500 I could do all the body work and repaint my whole car because I would do it myself. My car does have quite a few dents and some rust and could definitly use a fresh coat of paint. BUT... I don't HAVE to spend this money on body work. Im torn between putting all this money into engine mods or doing the body work. What do you guys think?
Also, just to get some opinions, what would you spend $500 on in engine mods? Im planning on a whole new fuel system from the pump to the injectors and maybe a mild/moderate cam.

You won't get far with $500 on the engine. A new cam, followers, and a timing chain kit would cost $500 total!
Sure its nice to have some speed, but the stock L28 isn't too bad. It can stil produce an enjoyable ride. I say get the car looking good first. It'll make it that much more fun to drive and to work on if its all pretty.

i agree with bleechy...put the money into the body...you can always buy engine parts one at a time if you want modifications, but with paint and body work you have to dump the money as a sum, altough like he says a stock Z is awsome too...

I'm gonna have to go with doing the body work. 500 smackers won't do much mechanically as far as speed making mods go. but it can sure go a long way towards beautification. If your car runs fine, leave it alone. The stock 280zx is still faster than a lot of other cars out there. Speed is'nt everything. Who the hell wants a fast car that looks like a turd on wheels? (accept maybe Mr. Hankey). One of the things that makes owning a Z great is the way people react to it. Take a look at that sexy little b*%^h in the upper left corner of the post and tell me it doesn't look damn good! I have some go fast parts under the hood, but it's the look of the car that makes someone stop me in virtually every parking lot and ask about my car...
