I don't understand?

Why is it that all they have on ebay are cold air intakes for the n/a models. Why won't they work for the turbo model. I dont get what the difference is? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? And would it hurt or help if i put one on my turbo z?

The tubing diameter is different. Just go to Pepboys and buy a piece of 45-degree or 90-degree intake piping (the 3" dia. is just right) from their aftermarket section, and stick an air filter on the end. That's what I did on my turbo.

Exactly. The money you save when you build your own parts is AMAZAZAZING

marketing.... its just their choice. and it is that easy with our cars, to buy an actual cold air intake would be pointless... just waste of money.

Probably because there aren't as many turbos as there are NA's. And they may also figure that anyone interesting in modding their turbos may have already gotten custom piping for an intercooler, thus making the market for a stock-fitting aftermarket intake even smaller.

what heat wave said is right but you really need to weld (preferred) or bolt a brace on the thing otherwise you got a bunch of weight bobbing around with no support. There are some small 8mm bolts below the stock airbox and you can bend a piece of 3/16x1 flat bar to fit (or 1/8). that way the elbow is supported an one end by the rubber from the manifold and on the other by the brace. You can calculate the K&N filter you need from the calculator on their website. Whole deal cost me like $60. If you don't have welding machine but can get a torch brazing or silver soldering work just as good. Probably could even get away with regular copper pipe lead solder but it might crack after a few years.

The air filter I used was a K&N "Xstream" (sp) model, which had a hole in the end specifically meant to stick a bolt through to be able to attach a support bracket.

ya, ive actually got a mig welder and oxy-fuel set up at my house, and im no stranger to metal fabrication so that shouldn't be a problem. I might make some custom brackets to make sure it looks clean and keep them out of the way though.
