Not bad... now, what is your rear end gear ratio? That 130mph speedo came from a 79 that had the 3.7 gear. Unless you get the 3.7 tranny cog, your speed won't be 100% acurate.

werd...I remember when I swapped my tranny in my '79 with one from an '81 (I'm pretty sure it was an '81), the speedo read 0 mph the entire time i was test driving it until we took it back to the garage and swapped out cogs, because one of them was bigger than the other..

So do I bro' and I have the 130 speedo in it too. Also in my '81, and my speed was pretty close, when I got my last ticket in '04.

Wha? Are you asking where the speedo cog is? It's located on the transmission... the speedo cable connects onto it. To remove: take out the 10mm bolt holding the retaining bracket, and yank. It can be stubborn so you might need an open end wrench (or cresent wrench) to get it loose.

wait a sec, the speedo just reads the number of revolutions it is fed. You leave your speedo cog the same and just swap in the gauges.

You should only have to swap cogs if you actually change the rear gear in the car.

bleach is correct unless you change the rear end in the car the speedo will read correctly. It only knows how fast the output shaft of the tranny is spinning. If you look at the speedo somewhere there it will say 60 mph is so many rpm (All the 280 speedos I've seen are at 1000). I have a battery drill that spins at 900 and gives me 55 on a speedo. In rough numbers. It is how I check out junker speedos before taking the time to install. The speedo cog is designed to do the calculation that says okay i'm seeing 1000 rpm that is 60 mph.
