wait a sec, the speedo just reads the number of revolutions it is fed. You leave your speedo cog the same and just swap in the gauges.

bleach is correct unless you change the rear end in the car the speedo will read correctly. It only knows how fast the output shaft of the tranny is spinning. If you look at the speedo somewhere there it will say 60 mph is so many rpm (All the 280 speedos I've seen are at 1000). I have a battery drill that spins at 900 and gives me 55 on a speedo. In rough numbers. It is how I check out junker speedos before taking the time to install. The speedo cog is designed to do the calculation that says okay i'm seeing 1000 rpm that is 60 mph.
