Thats not true. I ran my '83 turbo at 20 degrees. And you CAN adjust the initial timing on the '82-'83 turbos. You adjust it the same as the non-turbos: by rotating the distributor housing. By rotating it you are effectively rotating the CAS in relation to engine position. Its the same as moving the CAS up or down on the '81.

but i dont think it is as snapy . also they messed with the timing curve as every auto maker does when the
"make it better" on the the later model years ..
when you turn the dissy on the 83 how much does it change ..-3 or +3
or will it give you the whole 10 ether way ?
I couldn't tell you how much total you can get, but I know it will do a bit more then 3 degree's either way. I know this from when I had to set my timing. I ended up setting my timing at 20 degrees when all was said but that was with the dizzy rotated as far as it would go in that direction. But if I rotated it the other direction I could get it off the marker (probably in the 30ish degree range). I could've gone with a more centeralized starting point but I was tired of pulling the oil pump to get it all lined up (this was after my turbo swap and a new oil pump).

As for setting the timing on the turbos. I originally did it like Nismo said with the TPS disconnected, but once I replaced my Ignition Module and Ignition Coil when I would set the timing with the TPS unplugged it would cause the car to run super retarded and have no power. Then I went and reset the timing with the TPS plugged in and the car runs great. I had the same problem with the Haynes in the way that it basically tells you that you can't set the car's timing without the help of a datsun dealer, but then it says you can adjust the distributor.

Few questions on this one!

A) What exactly is Lime Green?
B) Where do I buy it?

I googled it and not much comes up. It is simular to 409?

Thanks,

Lime Green is a color... LIME-AWAY is a mineral remover. It looks like this:

You can buy it in locations such as supermarkets, hardware stores, and prolly the gas station
