I'm a very lucky man.

Was looking on craigslist and typed in "280zx" and found a man that has 3 parts car 280zx's for sale 20miles from my house. (1982 turbo automatic, 1982 N/A, 1983 Turbo 5 speed) I can't wait to go look. One doesn't have a title, but I think the two turbos do.

He wants $500 for each car (Not bad at all) the 83' was rolled over, so I think the engine might be still good. If not, I'll buy an 82.

Were turbo's always 2 seaters?

I'm yanking everything possible off of it when I pull it into my garage.

No, you could get the turbo in a 2+2 as well. Where are you located? I paid $500 for a running, drivable and legal '83 280ZX turbo 2+2 in the San Fran bay area.

If the motor still runs and the tranny is still good, I would get the '83 Turbo. It will make a much better driveline swap than the Automatic unless you already have a manual tranny in your Z.

Jordan, let me know if you pick up a 2+2. I still nee dthe finishers for the b-pillar behind the front seats. Atr this point color doesn't even matter.

Did you get the rear compartment panel you needed? Score a parts car and you'll be all set. Have you looked at the cars yet?

The B-pillar is the thing with the seat belt hole right? I'm going to look on sunday the 10th of august. I told him I'm in no hurry, (280zx's are rare and I doubt anyone will snag 3 wrecked cars before me, and I don't think he will sell them before I see them because I called 5 minutes after the add went up lol

Anything else you need? I'm stripping EVERYTHING possible out of what I can get.

I'll send a list via PM. Talk him down, I only paid $400 for two cars. Unless the two turbo cars are solid runners it can take a long time to part them out and get your money back. I found an '87 turbo 300 for $1000 here and it's driveable.

Yeah he's "looking" for $500 a car but I'll bring him down. He said they all ran when he parked them (so they must have been semi drivable after the rollovers) I'm pretty excited to get ahold of the turbo motor. I don't think I'm going to throw it in my ZX though, I want to tune it up to like 300hp (all my money will go to the car and not a gf ) and throw it in another datsun/Nissan. All I really need from the car is the title but hey everything is a bonus . Datsuns are really rare in PA, so I guess prices are higher? I've only seen 3 on the road my whole life lol

Try living in the Motor City. Half the time I'm worried about some hardcore UAW person trashing my baby. They did it in Lordstown when I was working on the Chevy Cobalt launch. I had just bought the car there too.

Yeah, but you guys get the Skyline.
I want one so bad I can taste the motor oil! I can't afford all of the re-work to make it legal here.

theres really not much re-work that goes into legalization, its the difficulty and inspection fees and obtaining crash test results from the factory

KingDatsun1,

What did the cars look like?

I live in Bethel Park and I've seen a few Z's around here. Mine is the Black/Red 280zx. It's painted like the 10th anniversary version.

I bought a red one that was rolled over a few years ago. They are not in running condition. Great for parts though
