The Euro / Canada model 280zx's do have a battery "electrolyte" sensor for the battery. I don't know much about it because it was never an option on the US model, but check your battery voltage. Does the car crank over and start?
Like Z Car Barbie said, that box is a warning display for basic areas of the car (lights, coolant, washer fluid, etc).
carfanatic... where are you located?

Anyways you know of the wire that goes to the sensor that should be dipped in the battery? When cut the sensor off and wire the wire to the + side of the battery. Nissan also sells a kit to bypass the kit so the light stays off.

Thank you, Carfanatic.
Oh, okay. Apparently, your model has the battery light on the warning display, if it is the one shown here: http://www.xenons130.com/warninglamps.html
My ‘82 does not have this (the warning is on the voltage gauge). Are you having any problems starting your car? You might want to test the battery and inspect the connections before delving into other possible issues as to why the light stays on.

My 2+2 has that battery light Nismo, it was part of the early models.

I'm from the island of Malta, in Europe. I'm not aware of any sensor that supposed to be dipped into the battery. All I know is the Car cranks up and starts immedietly, without hestitation, just as showroom condition.

Exactly what I was looking for!
The 'System Check Indicator' is always on. When I press the the display button, the battery indicator starts to flash howeevr battery still is extremely healthy.
What seems to be the problem?

There should be a wire around near the battery in the engine bay that used to goto a sensor. Idk about the Euro Models tho, I figured they used the same sensor. Either way its not a problem just a minor nuisance
Basically what the sensor did is tell you the electrolyte levels in the battery where low, when its not hooked up it also turns on the light in the dash, nothings wrong (unless you still have that sensor in the battery)

That makes sense, Blue. Some of the S130s originally came with a conventional battery that required adding water, which is apparently what that sensor was meant for (the electrolyte level). These days, we have maintenance-free batteries.

Sorry, I did not see the others’ posts until after I had posted.
