L28 Cam Problem...

L28 Cam Problem...

Ok I recently got a P90 Head (Thanks Nismo!) BUT!!! I tried to remove the cam sense it was rusted to hell and back but the cam shaft is frozen solid I cant even turn it with a wrench on the boxes of the cam.

I know its bad but should I just unbolt the cam towers then bolt in the entire cam towers and cam shaft from an N/A head I have laying around? Or just fight the head or, take the head to a machine shop and just let them fight it? (its going there anyways for a major clean up)

PS: Which N/A Cam is better? Early? or late? (before 81 or after 81)

oofa.

I rotated the engine before I removed the head, so I know the cam moves. Just take off the cam towers & take it to the machine shop. It needs to be checked anyway.

Really? I nearly knocked it over trying to turn it over XD Well So long as removing the towers wont ruin anything then I'll do that tho I don;t have a choice do I?
How long was the head sitting around AFTER you got it off the engine? lol

Well I didn't do a complete 360* rotation, just a couple degrees. The motor sat w/ a blown headgasket for 5 years, then the head sat on my garage floor for about 6 months.

Many people say the cam towers MUST be aligned by the machine shop, a few say they don't. If the head needs any work at all, they will do it anyway.

Interesting. Alright. Well All my plans are kinda at a dead stop Sense now I'm out of money lol Still waiting for that damned Camaro to sell

XD Oh well I'm not all that rushed about it. Oh OT, how the hell do you open that AFM!? I was going to work on it but I cant get the N/A Or the turbo one open!

Razor the glue around the edge of the black cover, then carefully pry it off.

Yep figures. I took the cam off to find one cam tower turned freely. 3 were kinda grinding a bit, the very last one was nearly frozen solid lol

Again which N/A cam is better? Early? or late? (before 81 or after 81)

Uh How much is the P90a Head worth? Or the little rockers or w/e their called...
