l28et swap
#2
This has been covered a few times so searching will answer most, if not all your questions. Anyway, aside from being a search ****, I'll help you out haha. The motor will have to found used at a junkyard or classifieds. I have yet to see any engine importers carry an L28et, namely since Japan didn't have them in the first place.
The cost is all up in the air as it depends on what price you pay for the engine, harness, ecu, manifold, etc. So I'd say ball park give yourself about 2000 bucks as a nice cushion. That way you can replace items that need to be replaced, and in case something comes up that needs to be fixed, you won't be strapped for cash. Upgrading from the stock turbo to a t3/t4 hybrid is probably a good idea at the time you swap the motor. Anyway, look around, and PM some of the members who's names show up in the thread of interest for info. I'm sure they'd be happy to help you out.

Hey I got a engine hoist yesterday and I'm wondering how I lift the engine out, do I have to go and buy some engine slings, or is there some points that are already laid out for the L28et? Will just throwing some chains around it and hoping for the best work too?

Chains.....
There are lift hooks on the engine. You can bolt the chain to them, or if your chain has hooks, simply hook them up.

If the motor hasn't been messed with too much, the stock hooks should still be there. One is on the last manifold stud by the firewall / throttle linkage. The other is up front just behind the power steering pump (or above the alternator).
Or you could bolt it up any way you want (just make sure you use the larger engine bolts... 10mm / 12mm bolts will snap right off when you lift on those.
Checky (he's actually using the manifold studs... not something I would do... but you get the idea):

You don't need hooks, you just need 2 bolts, 4 large washers and 2 nuts.
Thread the chain through the factory "hooks" and loop the chain back up like a noose, then run a bolt, washer, chain link, chain link, washer, nut, tighten down and you're done.

well I'm in the middle ground right now. I have the engine all nicely put back together, except I'm having trouble with the question of
what do i put on the intake manifold?
The engine came with a new, unused, blasted blah blah N42 unwebbed and all it has is the throttle assembly and a tube.
But what else is there to put? Right now I'm goign to go back out to the garage and keep staring at the harness I took off and keep trying to figure out what goes where. Tomorrow I will hopefully be able to get the L26 out of the car and the day after, I hope to figure out the harness. I HAVE TO GET THIS DONE!!!!

as far as the connectors to the manifold go, you'd have the 6 injector connectors, the connector for the throttle position sensor, connector for the air regulator. Some vacuum lines, etc. It seems confusing at first, but really there's not that much. When I redid my intake/exhaust manifold gasket I had to basically learn the hardway since I didn't mark anything. The biggest problem I had was figuring out the vacuum lines. I believe there are vacuum diagrams in the haynes guide. I remember finding a diagram that I used to figure out where all the vacuum lines went. Once you get it in there it won't be too hard.
