Leaky Powersteering?

So I got the driver side boot replaced on the rack and pinion power steering, and while it was on the stands (driver side was elevated) I noticed some fluid coming from passenger side boot. Once I got the boot on, I backed the car out and noticed that the fluid was power steering fluid and it was coming out of both of the power rack and pinion boots (each side)??? It did not leak at all prior to this.

Is the pump shot? Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that if it's leaking at the rack, it's the rack's seals... not the pump.

My Z31's steering was leaking a bit, I threw some leak stop steering fluid in there and I haven't had a problem since.

Did you check to make sure you got the specific boot for the 280 with that little nipple on the top inside of the boot? Generic ones don't have it and I WOULDNT recommend cutting your own hole, mine didnt hold the fluid.

Yes it is the correct boot with a nipple on the top.

Any ideas on why both rack seals would go at once? I am confused on this...

Ok so it does appear to be the rack seals that are leaking. How would I go about fixing this? I'm still a little concerned that both seals started leaking at the same time...

Agree

A few things to know

Make sure you get a rebuilt one with the boots.

It is a lot easier if you drop the cross member!!

Keep your receipt, I had to return my because it wasn't clock correctly.

I found one online for 180 printed out the page took it to my local autoparts store and they priced matched it.
