Losing electrical power when I start the car?
I just bought this 79 v8 conversion 280zx. The conversion looks thave been done really well. I actually took it in trade from a kid who got it from the guy who did the conversion. So he really wasn't to much help. He lost all electrical power when the car ignition is all the way to on & after starting the car. Yet if you just turn the key to acc all the lights work? I can also drive it with no problems. Well other than no lights, Brakes or wipers. My alternater is working fine & keeping a charge. I've check all my fuses & no problems there. Is there a relay that controls this? Just trying to get a few ideas of places to look & check. I am new to 280zx's & need to learn my way around it. I will admit I am no genious mechanically. I've been into Porsche 914's for quite a few years & know those well. I can pull a motor & replace one. I've rebuilt a tranny in my 914 too. Electrical gremlins have never been my strong suit though. Any input you might have I'd appreciate it

I called the kid i got it from. Just to see when the lights quit working. He said it was a month ago. He was jump starting it when it happened. Sounds like something blew. Just not a fuse in the normal spot maybe. I started tracing some wires but didn't get to far. I would think is it was a fuse it wouldn't work at all. It working in the acc part but not when it runs or the on position?
