Missing my baby
So I've been without my 79' for about a week and a half while it's getting a new clutch and some other stuff done at the shop, and I am missing it like crazy! I can't even imagine how you guys with your multi year non running restos feel. Right now I'm having to drive our 95 Suburban beater, which is making me yearn for the good handling and 5 spd of the Z like nothing else. All I can think about is the car and I'm dreading the call tomorrow from the shop telling me how much longer some other stuff I wanted an estimate on is gonna take to do. I feel like such a whiner, but at least I'll have it back again relatively soon and with a bunch of stuff fixed so I can't complain too much.

yea, at least you didn't wreck your car lol my car's been down since the beginning of December... I think the only thing that keeps me going is the fact that I'm driving my Firebird more and more now, just as long as I have at least one fun car to drive, I'm "okay" lol
why aren't you doing the clutch swap yourself? it's not that difficult, it's just time consuming and dirty and there's some heavy-lifting... lol

I just don't really have the equipment nor the time (student). Maybe if it were summer but since I can't really drive the car with a bad clutch and since the car is my dd it really needed to be fixed asap. Believe me though it's got plenty of other jobs for me to tackle when I've got the time. I think the first thing I'm doing when I get it back is painting the wheels. The wheels on the car aren't stock or anything and they've gotten pretty nasty over the years so I figure that's a little job I can punch out over the weekend. I just gotta figure what color I want to go with.

Went to the shop to check on the POZ (as I've affectionately named it ), the mech said he'd be done by monday hope he's right! Tonight I drove my parent's LeSabre and it felt like an F1 car after driving the burban for so long. He got the clutch done he just needs to find and fix a coolant leak, and do a brake job. He said he had to remove the heat shield above where the catalytic converter used to be because he said it was extremely rusted and almost all the bolts holding it on just broke of when he was taking it off (hope this doesn't mean the entire frame might be rotting ). Any ways I am super psyched to get it back on Monday, and the first thing I'm doing is washing it, after sitting in and out of the shop for a week the car is covered in dirt.
