If it comes and goes, chances are it's electrical... Probably a bad connection somewhere. Re-Check all those little connectors and contacts really well. Otherwise, it could be an intermittant problem with Coil voltage or IM, Vacuum advance... Fuel flow...

If none of that fixes it, try painting it all one color... it worked for me!

I had this problem. found out some how my oil pump shaft got off one notch. Quick test for this. Pull the One 10MM Dizzy adjuster bolt. Turn Dizzy in eather direction Past it's mount hole. see how she idle's when you do this. Unless you find a way (try a bolt, nut and two large washer's and sandwitch the dizzy and the mount flange together) and take her for a quick drive. This helped me. i corrected the problem. now i can't find anyone to race PPl around here think there's a V8 in it. lol. dumbass'es

Last time I had those symptoms in an L-series motor it was intermittent fuel starvation being caused by an alternator intermittently going out, on it's way to a full failure. That was on an S30 L-28, though, so I don't know if the S130 L motors have the same "no alternator charge = no power to fuel pump" logic or not. Easy test: spray a can of starter fluid in the intake (a lot). If it starts and runs, and then after 5 seconds or so it dies, then there's a good chance that's the issue.
good luck, and don't give up!
Dave
