My First Z!
its a 1982 Nissan 280zx 5spd with t-tops. only thing missing is turbo! lol
hey guys this is my first Z ive owned and im already so excited about it. this website looks like a great wealth of knowledge so im looking forward to all the help you guys will provide haha.
well actually the truth is its the first two Z's ive owned! a buddy of mine in school has an 82 280zx white t-tops and an 83 280zx blue hard top. i was in a hard spot needing a car and he mentioned to me that i could get both for a low low price of $600!!
well the 82 is the one that runs. it has been sitting on the side of his garage for a year and is definitely a PROJECT for sure but we jumped the battery and it started right up!! unbelievable. but it didnt smoke didnt have any worrysome sounds coming from the engine or anything. but im super stoked to get it back to my place and start tearing it down to fix the body and interior and get it back together!
the 83 blue one is a parts car he locked up the engine quite a while ago and just had it sit in his yard. so its got a great body on it and will provide plenty of donor parts for my Z!

Haha okay thanks guys and I'm not planning to do a full resto right now. I need to completely pull out the interior and clean probably fix or replace some parts and reassemble it. Other than that I have rust on the tip of the hood that will get some attn and the passenger quarter panel needs work but for now it will get a simple fix to smooth it out. The motor needs a typical tune up. It started and ran fine for 20min I didn't drive it due to no tires. But no smoke no noises other than AC compressor. I plan to change oil put new plugs wires and some injector cleaner on. Maybe a new dizzy depends what it looks like. Its got quite a bit of miles on it so it needs some maintenance and TLC but its gonna be a one by one project ill make it gorgeous eventually. And later on down the road I'm thinking about an engine swap but well see haha. Thanks guys for the welcomes and any advice thrown my way I'm open for taking.

id use the blue ones body and the white ones engine if it were me. the white one is gonna be harder to do the sheet metal then swap the engine. just wash and polish the blue one and youll be surprized what itll look like

simply from the rear quarter rust teh blue one looks more worth it, assuming the frame and the rest of the blue car is as clean as the side thats visible, scrap the white one or use it as a parts car just swap the good motor into the blue one. that white ones body is gone gone gone!

Yeah the blue has 160k miles the white one has 232k lol. Depends all on the frame and what not. Well see this weekend when I can inspect both equally. The body on the white one is not as bad as it seems really. The quarter and tip of the hood are the worst. Its had all new floors pans welded in too. but still ill see which would be better

So I now know why you guys love your z's so much. Its so much fun to drive. This thing runs great. And it'll run even better after I do a tune up on it. I love it and I'm glad I bought it! As for now I've only taken apart the interior and cleaned it all down and reassembled it it looks a lot better now.
