N42 with P79
#2
n42 block has dished, yes. the p79 came from a car with flat tops, so your comp ratio will be like 7:1, very low, unless you are building a 20psi turbo motor, then that setup would work. it will work, just it would have like 100hp

ok. so with flat top's and the P79. Will it all work with a N42? The reasion is I am puting a 81 ECU system in a 76. The N42 Does NOT have that head temp sensor that the P79 has. I do not really know if Not having this with the 81 ECU will effect how it will run. I am doing Everything. ECU, WireHarness, Relay's Inside the dash. Relay and Fuse lin box inside the Engine Bay. Basicly Upgrading the 76 to a 81 and cleaning up the engine bay at same time. I am useign the Dizzy from the 81 also, along wiht the water inlet. It's a lil larger, and has the correct sensor's on it. I know it will be Alot of work, but the current setup is Not working at all. and the Engine is out of the car as of tonight. I'll probly end up going with the F54/P79 combo. but i want to know Just how well a N42 will act with flat top's and a P79.

maybee just swap the whole 81 motor and save the hassle of the dished pistons, its 2 hours work that is well worth the time it seems in this case. the dished pistons with p79 head will SUCK big donkey. with flat tops you are are 135 hp. add dished to the mix and you are at 90 hp.
