Need the masters advice
Hey guys,
New to the forum, and need some advice from the guys who have been here. The vehicle I'm working with is an 83 280zx n/a. The car has been sitting for 9 years, very little rust. I was hoping you guys could give me a yes or no if my thoughts are on the right track. Things I have done include draining old fuel, fluids all replaced. The car will start and run on starting fluid. NOT WITHOUT.
My thoughts-
I can't hear the relays click or the fuel pump engaging. I removed the inline filter then tried it, no spurts of fuel, as per my manual it should be coming out around 30psi. I took a battery and some wire and touched it to the inline fuel pump, did not engage. So i believe i have a bad fuel pump. Im not hearing my relays click either.
Long story short is it probable to have a bad starter, and a bad relay (or relays it according to my book and previous posts on here i have 2)

forget about clicks and hums. put a pressure gage in the fuel ring after the filter and before the fpr. hot wire the fuel pump so you know it is running and see if it starts. once you have that information you can start in on determining why the pump is not running in the normal course of events. it has been reported that the s130 fuel pumps can get a plugged up suction line. loosen it up and see if fuel runs out. don't smoke while doing that.

hey rogerz, took your advice, still nothing. Traced the wiring, and it appears it has been broken. I rewired it. Have fuel now. Bled the clutch this morning, now its driving. Not the greatest, but driving none the less. Thanks for your help. Will post some pictures maybe tomorrow after some cleaning happens.
