New dude here.

Wow, what's that like 3 noo-berts today alone?!

I don't actually have a Z, but my g/f does, so guess who gets to work on it?
That'd be me. It's cool, between us we have like six cars that only hold 2 or fewer people: 2nd and 3rd gen RX7 turbos, SL ' Benz, Toy truck, and a '69 Pontiac Firebird. We are pretty well rounded!

I race (SCCA Formula 1000), she's crewwoman - calls the Green like a pro...

I just came on here to find about wheels and tires for her '81ZX w/ 64k miles.
It is all stock, right down to the worn slap out struts and shocks.
I figure once the suspension gets upgraded the whole "rocking back on it's haunches whilst under acceleration" phenomenon will go away.

I'd love to find a nice set of struts and shocks, maybe from a recently hit car that is too far gone, or a part out, whatever...

Anyway the thing runs great, looking forward to helping others and maybe getting a question or 300 answered.

As far as shocks are concerned, it all depends on the ride you're looking for and what you want to do with the car.

Me personally, I got KYB Gas-a-Just shocks for the rear and the KYB GR-2 for the fronts. Running stock springs right now and it still rides and handles wonderfully. Probably going to upgrade to the Eibach lowering springs (drops the car 1" and are stiff as hell). Also probably want to replace the bushings with urethane. HUGE difference.

Lots of people here swear by the Tokickos, but I'm really happy with the KYBs.

Check out www.shox.com. They treated me right, and have pretty good prices. I got my entire set up for about $425 shipped to my door.

Thanks for the info. Yeah no need to make the thing all hardcore (got that covered w/ the rotary stuff), just need to firm it up, stop the wallowing, keep it comfy, but control the damping cause right now - "There ain't none"!

Z parts

Welcome to the forums Coop, this is a great source for Z owners, best place in my opinion to get parts for your GF's Z http://www.zcarparts.com/

Cheers, looking forward to some pics of your cars. I think you will find everyone here helpful, friendly and very informative. Tons of discussions on almost every subject you can imagine.

Cheers Bret
