New to the forum...a quick intro.

Just wanted to introduce myself and my car. I live in North Carolina and have a 1981 280ZX 2-seater. A brief bit of history about the car. My Dad purchased this car new when I was 9 years old (yes I am 35 now) in the summer of 81 from Grubbs Datsun in Dallas and has been my Dad's garage queen and weekend car since that day. I loved this car the way he does and always wanted him to "hand over" the car one day to me. Unfortunely my Dad lost a battle with colon cancer recently and before he passed away he gave me the car. I could NEVER get rid of this car and will do whatever it takes to keep it running in top shape. The car has 65K original miles on it. It is alpine white with red interior. Absolutely stunning combo. I have attached a few pics. One of the car and one of the original window sticker

By the way, something I probably don't need to tell y'all since you own one of these fine cars.....the experience behind the wheel of one of these is comparable to nothing else. FYI.....I have 3 Porsche's as well (GT3, 911CAB, Cayenne) and more often than not, I walk into the garage and pick the Z over everything else. Just something about it!

Wow! talk about my life revisited!
My dad bought mine brand new back in 1983, except I wasn't born yet and he never believed in a garage queen
But I do have a porsche (911S) as well and I also am constantly driving the Z

definately agree with something about it

anyways, Glad you got the car, it would ahve been horrible for someone else to have recieved it and just trashed it

It looks to be in beautiful shape too. Honor your dad and the spirit in which he loved it and drive it to enjoy it. Don't hide it away "for safe keeping". Spend the money to keep it looking beautiful and running just as well and you'll be happier for it.

Cheers,
LWW

Wow! Slick top '81. Don't see that everyday. Sorry for your loss. I lost my dad back in '93, but to "natural" causes. Welcome aboard...

Hey cronus, welcome to zdriver. And I need to ask you something. Are those 6-spoke wheels the stock ones, that came with the car? Anyway great Z though, and keep it nice. I have a slicktop '81 2 seater also. It got munched up in the front end. But I plan on fixing it, and bringing it back. It will be quite a while though, considering I have 3 280zx's.

Thanks Carl! SOrry about your loss as well. It sucks, but we move on and honor them. The besst way I can do that is keep his pride and joy running nice and strong for many years to come

I will. I had a long talk to my Dad (in theory) yesterday after giving it a good inspection and there is alot of work that it will need. Even though it is in awesome condition, there is no hiding that some parts are 25+ years old. But I will spare no expense in getting it a good overhaul.

Oh it doesn't go to waste. trust me on that It spend a considerable amount of time on the track. Basically 80% track 20% street car. I attached a pic of the car.

Hey Wildman! Yes those are the wheels that came with the car. There was a brief period of time when my Dad swapped out the originals for some "wire" wheels. You know, the ones that look like about 100 spokes all intertwined around the center of the wheel. They might have been nice during their time but I immediately went to the stockers.

very very pretty love the slick top. Are you planning to keep it original or are you thinking of some performance mods?

I would like to keep the interior and the exterior original (you know just the aesthetic stuff), but I would love to be able to "beef" the stuff you don't see up a bit. More sepcifically, the suspension bits.
