New Guy
Hi, name is mark, from oklahoma city, i just purchased a 1980 280zx for a daily driver, it was a friend of mines car that has been well taken care of, needs a wash, but its in great shape. L28 NA automatic, ugliest red interior ive ever seen, not one crack in the dash though.. this is all new, i dont really plan on doing any engine mods, but suspension will be nice, i own a 06 Subaru WRX Wagon for my toy, but i wanted something other than a honda to drive, i like retro and have always loved the Z's.. look forward to talking to all of you and getting some feedback, because i absolutly know nothing about this car

Here are a couple pix of my wagon, im a complete pic ***** when it comes to my car, so as soon as the 280 gets a good bath, i will have plenty of pix
And i realize its not a Z, but this car is the ultimate grocery getter

Yes welcome to the the best Z forum on the web. A lot of friendly helpful people on here. And tons of info, to feed your head full of knowledge. And yes a Haynes and or FSM manual. Will get you more familiar with the easy to work on 280zx. It is an addicting car. And is a lifelong addiction. Anyway hope you enjoy your stay. And feel free to ask us questions about your Z. Also the search function can be your friend also. All aside looking forward to the pics of your newer addition, to your car collection.

For suspension start with new springs and struts. You'll be amazed at the difference.
I went with ST springs (suspension techniques) for only $200 from shox.com (I think)
Then just some stock KYB struts for about $60 each corner.
Later you can get some bigger sway bars or even just replace the end link and body mount bushings on your factory sway bars.

notice the winking face yah ****! lol. but now that everyone thinks its serious. 4G63 FTW boxer engine sounds cool thats it. my buddies build DSM's and my other friend has an 02 WRX non wagon. his car is a little more torque on the hit than the DSM's after that he gets pooped on. my rich buddy has an evo 9 GT37 turbo header Bcontroller intake full turbo back exhaust and a quick reflash still stock boost for some stupid reason, ran a mid 12 and rolled off the light, kid was never to the track before. lol. however i like older evo's and DSM's cause teh new evo's just look so heavy. oh yeah, and evo wins in the WRC soooo :P :P :P :P :P :P
oh yeah and why to drive an evo (other than the evo 10 blah! )
1) the 4G63 holds the highest HP 4 cylinder record
2) the 4G63 holds the fastest AWD car record
3) in rank of the best HP you can get out of an import motor it was supra motor (2jz), a twin turbo'd NSX motor, and the 4G63.... but that "study" still dont make much sense to me.
oh yeah, and to everyone, i was just joking in my first post, but everyone one had to get their panties in a bunch and make me bring out my inner DSM'er

I kinda figured you were kidding Snw in your first post...but since we are going to make a cool thread out of it........ Oh and by the way...Welcome New Guy!!!
I think from the start the STi had the better design...the engine is sitting the right way for one thing. The EVO is nothing more than a redesigned front wheel drive car...the engine is STILL sideways...come on guys. Not that the EVO is not one bad *** car, it is, but the STi in my opinion is just better. However, I do not like the redesigned nose piece of the new STi's. After seeing both the 2005 STi and a EVO 8 next to each other in person I would pick the STi on looks. I guess it's just personal taste...but I have better taste
