New member with a question
Hello. New to the forum and new owner of an 1982 280ZX. Just recently got this car (actually inherited the car) and getting started on the things that need fixed. The car sit inside a barn for 5-8yrs and was covered with dust, bird crap, etc.. So, after getting it out & on the trailer we made the first stop at the car wash to see what we actually had. Looks like the body is in really good shape, no rust & no major dents. Installed a new batt and took a long shot on cranking it up. Much to our surprise, the car actually started up (no telling how old the gas is) but would not idle. So, siphoned out the old gas, put 5gal new gas in the tank and she started right up!
But, first thing I noticed, no clutch. Press the pedal and it smacks straight down to the floor and stay's there. No pressure at all. I put a tad more brake fluid in the reservoir and mashed the pedal down, bled off the air but made no difference.
My question, is the clutch master cylinder shot? can I just buy a re-build kit and fix this? or am I over simplifying the fix...
Thanks!
Here's a pic of the car, I removed the rear window louver so it wouldn't get "ripped" off from the head wind on the way home. Didn't think they we're designed to handle much wind from that direction...
