haha yes. so for sure its an 81. deep breathe. Moving on hah
i'll pull some numbers this week. im sure it's killing you guys as much as myself. But to be honest with you, he did spend alot of work on this motor, but he may have just wasted his time. It's not a screamer, it is loud, but doesn't go very far, and in order to tune this thing, it's gonna cost more than what the engines worth. So i might just be better off using the engine for a daily driver motor, and buy an sr20 for the track.

yea, i've been in the drifting community for quite some time. Coming up on 9 years now. Mostly working on 240's and corollas, so over those years and going to events i've met quite a few shop owners and people that are pretty in deep with engine exporters. But yea, rb20's are pretty easy to come by compared to rb25's and 26's. quick easy power. I have a KA24 sitting around too. I could just rebuild that, throw on a t28 and enjoy a bit more torque than an sr.
so many options to chose. i tend to rush things though. Hopefully this car can slow me down a bit. Seeing that parts aren't exactly gorwing off tree's

KA-T would be a bit better than the SR in this application but honestly i wouldnt stick a 4 banger in an S130 chassis, just saying... however i would love to stick an SR or RB25/26 in an S30.... infact that was another idea of mine but i didnt want to spend all the extra do in custom mounts that i could on a stand alone system and IC setup on just a turbo L motor... decisions decisions.....

i think the car is a 79 with a 81 door swap :P cause you know thats the popular thing to do to these cars now in days
go with and rb26... rb20s and 25s have been done(if you want to be truly original{if thats your thing} convert it to awd like the GTR... thats only been done to a few 350zs and mabe 1 240z?

The compression ratio is around 8.7:1 for all of these years. This is where things get confusing. There are three E88 heads, one for each of the three years. The 72 differs from the '73-'74 mostly in the quench area. This is significant as the '73-74 head has a raised quench area that increases chamber temperatures for improved combustion. Contrary to what you might think this is not good for H/P. These are the least desirable of the Z heads and the only way to tell them apart is to identify the combustion chamber. I think the '73-'74 head only differs in that the 260 has a larger exhaust valve. The '72 combustion chamber is similar to the E31 with the hemisphereical quench area a little deeper than the earlier head. Some IT competitors prefer the early E88, sighting that its valves are a little less shrouded than the E31. I've run both and saw no difference in ET's.

twin turbo's are for muscle cars eurpean cars (other than bmw inlines) and the VG motors, everything else should be single.
OH and some REALLY big diesel motors.
and dont listen to 2by2 i mean... look at his SN for gods sake.... 2by2 when its 2+2.... lol
ALSO thats probably where the EFI conversion is coming in from, he used a head that was on a CARB motor and just slapped the intake manifold on it and plugged in all the EFI goodies, not really a conversion, jsut a *** backwards head swap. lol

right on. Thanks for the info. i wonder how much the power diff is, now that he port/polished it and now with the cam. Prob @ 130-140 huh?
oh wait, aren't they like 150 stock? hmm, guess i'll have to dyno it

cant estimate those numbers, **** the engine plate on my 280Z rated it at 170hp.... i know thats BHP but still i really doubt that. then you have the wear from all the years and so on and the cam but then the head kinda contradictory......

yea i hear that.
So i've decided on this kit from motorsport auto:
Not getting that wing though. As far as color. i have no idea. either black, red, or white. And don't get me started on wheels. so many to choose from. prob SSR mesh or some sort, with gold mesh/ 6" of chrome lip hah. 16x8 maybe? Along those lines.

MJP has a reputation for poor quality, poor fit, and super high shipping prices. they are in the UK.
Lets not tell a new user to order from them please.
There is a different version of the 280ZX g-nose that has recently been put into production in the states.

Well I spoke to the owner of a major LSD manufacturer and he has an LSD he got from japan some time ago that according to him will drop right into my diff. So I'm just gonna give my pumpkin to him and let him goto town on it. I got lucky cause he only has one and has to rebuild it. But he'll give me a discount
