no cat = better milage?
alright i have been trying to figure out my freakishly good gas milage. i have been getting about 28Mpg in town which frankly is pretty damn good.
but why am i getting good gas milage? my catalytic converter has been chopped out would that do it?
i am wondering because if its something i can control mabe i could make it better!

Im no math wiz, but that sounds like 800 miles on 1 full tank of gas in a 2+2 turbo. . . .so by that math my coupe turbo should be able to make it oh, well lets see
1 full tank of gas+the current price of tea in China divided by the circumfrence of the moon on the 3rd monday of june . .carry the 1
Yea . . .i could get about 1600 koalameters on 1 tank

Actually... the easiest way to get 50mpg (what nismo619 apparently gets in his fully loaded 280zxt) is to cut holes in the floor & run while driving. If you can run 75mph like nismo619 can, then you get very good gas mileage. But you really do have to add the price of tea in china for that to work, and only if it's June 3rd.

my name is not fred flinstone.
last time i filled up i was at 1/8th of a tank and i am now at 260 miles and 1/4 of a tank away from 1/8th. i had to do some hard driving this time, i acually went on the FREEWAY! my car has a low top speed i can tell. 80Mph is arround 4k on the tach in 5th. so i am not saving any gas there. but i was in a hurry, and then i ran into alot of stupid people i would rather have behind me, you know the type. so we'll see.

Removing the CAT on an otherwise stock N/A car will NOT improve mileage.
It may (and is most likely going to...) slightly DECREASE Mileage.
800 Miles on *1* tank of gas in a 280ZX = giant heaping pile of B.S. (unless of course the car has been modified to fit a 40+ gallon tank).
Rod.

These cars have almost always been advertised as 400+ mile cars per tank of gas. With a 20 gallon tank, that's not too hard to achieve as long as you're breaking the relatively easy 20mpg level. 800 though... NFW.

The most I got with my '81 280zx, back in the day. Was like 380 some miles to a tank..Of course I ran it pretty close to zero..lol But there is no friggin' way..You can get 800 miles to a tank of gas..I call B.S. on that one also.

No where near that in my '83 2+2 NA, especially in the city. On the Freeway at 75ish I was pulling 24 to 26mpg in the city I was lucky to get 22. I have a heavy foot too.
