noob question msd blaster ss

do I need 0.8ohm ballast resistor with this coil (msd blaster ss) or just simple conect the blue wire to (-) an the Black/White to (+);

I see most of you are using (msd blaster coil 2) and not the Blaster ss why?

I use the Blaster SS... you don't need a balast resistor because you're not using 6V points...

I know this is a very old thread but I have a 240 that was installed with a crane cams xr700 optical ignition. I removed it and installed a ZX distributor. I would like to install an MSD Blaster 2 coil with no ballast and open my spark gap a little. would this hurt the ZX ignition or mess with my Tach?
