oi, cold problems.

i cant figure this out and i dont want to squat some one elses thread.

in the morning or just when its cold the car starts up no prob but if i am going down the road and the tach is comming down to idle it',ll dip way far, struggle and today i had it die, it was the first time but its irritating

adjusting the idle speed helps but when it warms up the idle speed goes up aswell and then its idleing at about 1k RPM and burning alot of fuel just for sittin there.

i've checked vaccum lines more than once and i cant find any leaks, i was going to try to re adjust the BCDD because it may not be producing enough vaccume for it when its cold but i dun run outa things to check

Check your vacuum lines and BCCD. Also check timing advance.

Are you letting the car warm up before you drive it?

If everything in the system is working correctly he shouldn't need to let it warm up.

alright i is stumped.
i took the flux capicitor things out of the EGR circuit and hooked it up directly under the air regulator and when cold i noticed a big improvment when the car is idling while cold, checking the manual i think the thing was function properly but i think it had a vaccum leak.

car run great untill it warms up and then it starts missing arround 2k rpm.

if i disconnect the EGR then it runs fine how ever i get crappy gas milage.

the thing it hooks into is a thermal vaccum valve and considering it gets crappy running when it warms up and gets better when i unhook the egr and block it off suggests it workin.

any ideas to get it to run right with the EGR and without this thing?

The EGR doesn't have anything to do with gas mileage... are you leaving the vacuum hose open when you disconnect it from the EGR? That would be a vacuum leak hence crappy gas mileage.

Hey i had the exact same problem, lol are you leaking oil out of ur valve cover gasket? check around, then adjust your air/fuel mixture but you will need a air/fuel gauge from like autozone/kragen. You can adjust the mixture using the screw on the AFM. Might as well see what's in the AFM too...

good luck!

nope on the leaving hoses open

and the valve cover has some seepage but its very minor.

i dont understand why it starts missing when it warms up thats what i am trying to fix

Kinda similar issue to my Z. Starts up great, runs real good, after a minute, a few moments before the O2 sensor would come on the car starts running real lean, gives me hesitation, then O2 sensor finally kicks in and I'm pretty good to go

Niku, your EGR could be getting stuck open. Pull it off and also the tube. My neighbor's 91 SE-R had the same issues and there was a ton of carbon crap built up in the tube, and after getting a new EGR, it ran fan.

alright things got a little better, i re adjusted the AFM, the previous owner had it leaned WAY out but the problem still remains it just doesent droop as far and the idle doesent go up as far when it gets warm. it still has a tendancy to die comming to a stop when its cold and did die the other day.

as i said before i went over the vaccume lines, i checked the vaccum advance on the distrubter, it does...something but i am not sure about the whole thing (kinda a new thing to me)

could it be a sensor issue?
TPS or Water Temp, something messing with the mixture making it think its always warm out?
