That is a very nice '79 GL. I had a very similar '80 model but solid silver exterior with the same interior as yours. That looks like an extremely nice example for a 26 year old car.
With the GL package you also got the 3.7:1 R200 so it should be pretty good on the launches too.

thanks alot guys, Isaac, your car gives me a LOT of hope man. Probably the best looking 280 I've seen.
LWW, yeah the launches are great... I am just still having problems with getting the car rolling above 3500... I don't have a clue what's going on with it bro. The only way to describe it, is that you feel like you HAVE to shift out of any gear, up to 5th, at about 3500RPM. After 3500, if you wanna risk it, it makes this awful sound (sounds like its coming from the rear), and then the whole car starts to shake. Not too bad once you hit 5th gear at about 60mph. Drives great on the interstate. weird.

Take a look at your wheel bareings AND YOUR SUB AXLS..... MY CAR MADE some sounds from the rear of the car,AT HI'er speeds 60/70 mph. I shimmed the sub axls where it meets the wheel bearing and it fixed it.......................... someone could have also put the cv shaft or half shaft in wrong witch would throw everything off

Hi Jason; That car looks tight! Verry nice, I am jeolous! LOL! I have a '81 non-turbo, and a '82 with t-tops. Just curious what did you pay for that sweeeet car! I really love the paint job. What color blue is that? I am going to paint my '82 with a blue and silver 2-tone paint. Also your car color is not a common factory 2-tone. You are lucky to have that car. Take good care of it, it is a rare car as far as I know.
