Power locks and windows

Just curious but does any one know WTH they put power windows but not power locks on an 82 zx.

On that same note, has anyone here moved their window switched fromt the door to the console. I keep hitting mine with my knee and it will sort scare the crap out of you when you are making high speed manuvers and the window start going down. Anyway, i was just wondering how much trouble it is to move them from the door to the console.

82-83 ZX's have power door locks... the driver's door locks & unlocks the passenger side.

Do you not have the plastic frame cover for the window switches? It wouldn't be hard to move them, just gotta rewire it...

explain the power door locks. I am used to domestic autos that have the actual button. this has no button.

Lock / unlock the drivers side... the passenger side locks / unlocks. I don't think the passenger side will do the drivers side though.

what about when you enter the car, if you unlock the drivers door with a key should it unlock the passenger door at the same time?

Yep. The drivers door lock system has an actuator that sends the same signal to the passenger side.

In your Haynes manual.

Then on to fuses, relays, wiring, actuators....

Cool. I can't wait to get that working. I hate making someone stand outside while I try to get settled in my fetal position for driving.

On mine, the passenger side locks with the driver side... however, it will not unlock with the driver side. I just assumed thats how it was supposed to be.

I need to figure this out and get it fixed!

OK. I found a section in the manual I downloaded about the power locks, but it doesn't tell me where the flippin fuse is located. I looked all thru the owners manual, and on the front side of the fuse cover...nothing about power locks. I am going to try to fix this this weekend, but I sure hate starting off blind. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

your passenger side actuator probably is broken. I had that happen. Open up the door panel from the inside and look.

From the factory, the pass door is the only door with a mechanism. My 280ZX has power locks both sides but the actuator in the driver's door is aftermarket and hooked up to an aftermarket alarm. (keyless entry!)

I put keyless entry on my car and regret it,

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

much easier unlocking the car manually imo.
