From a side profile, even in stock form, only the rear blinkers are visible, while the front blinkers are recessed inside the front bumper. I really don't think this will be much worse as far a visibility goes.

Plus, around here, using the blinker is quite optional, and I think at least 50% of drivers don't even know how to activate them on their own car

Huh. What year is your 280ZX? Mines an 82 and has front blinkers on the front and sides, and rear blinkers on the back and sides. At least I think the side ones blink with the blinkers turned on.

EDIT: NVM, I see its an 80.

Your side ones from factory should not be flashing but someone could have re-wired them. I wanted to do that...

Got nailed in a parking lot, so a new fender is going on

Why does it seem that the only time I get any work done is when it is a necessity? Sigh...

Nah, no frame damage, not that hard a hit at all, just enough to fold the fender and smash the bliker - and the headlight bucket got a few scrapes, but that was it. Now its held on with trusty duct tape

I'll snap a few pictures of it all cleaned up this week. I used this as an excuse to throw on the headlight covers and new headlights I've had sitting in a box for 6 months. Maybe someone else can run into it to give me an excuse to put on the rest of the body kit that has been collecting dust in the rafters of the garage...

I know the blinker thing is old, but i wired all 4 of my side running lights to blink with blinkers. not hard. The wires you need to tap into are running right along with them

BOOM went the transmission on the way home from class tonight. I guess I should not have changed the fluid two weeks ago. It went from having an intermittent 4th gear issue (for the last year) to no 4th, no reverse, and now it shakes like crazy, grinds, even when not in gear, and does not respond to the clutch in any way

Good thing I'm picking up a z32 trans tomorrow, going to have to wait for the adapter though..

Ordered the z32 transmission adapter today. Now I need to source some z32 driveshaft parts and a mechanical speedometer output for the trans..

Should have it back on the road by this fall

Got the z32 transmission adapter that cost 3x what I paid for a whole working transmission

The question now is am I crazy enough to tear into it while it is 110° outside or do I wait until fall?

Found a whole z32 driveshaft for $40, two piece deal with all the joints, all I need from it is the yoke that goes to the back of the trans, what a waste..

Also need to pull apart the z32 bellhousing and get it machined to accept the adapter now that I have the instruction on how to do it

That sucks man, sorry to hear that. As for wanting someone to run into your Z, to get you do some other things you have put off. I think there is a better, and less headache of a way. lol Try just not procrastinating as much. Speaking of which, I have that problem also. That is why I still have a MSA Type II bodykit, still sitting in my shed. lol I have had it for over 3 years now.

All aside, looks like you are all ready to install your transmission. I agree with the heat. But I still am working on my Z out in it. I am trying to block that part out. And think, I am so close to driving my Z again. I can taste it, plus the fact me blasting down the road in a 5 speed again. What a rush, to even imagine. Woo!

It's not so much procrastination as it is not having time to work on it when I work and go to school full time, and then not being able to work on it outside once school is out b/c it is over 100° every day during the summer By this time next year I should be in a house with an a/c in the garage instead of this apartment, and I'll be able to work on my **** any time of year

It's coming together pretty well, I ordered a z32 clutch slave cylinder, short shifter (since I got no shifter with this transmission to start with) and a clutch kit for the l28 today. I may take the trans to work this week to pull off the bell-housing and get it machined...

I've got the z32 transmission torn apart right now waiting to machine the bellhousing and then I will get a custom driveshaft made. Car has been down for almost a year now so it is about time!

Also have been thinking about doing an OD green paintjob with some nose art, a la:

Here's a 5 minute MS paint rendering of what I'm going for, did not bother changing the color of the rest of the car to green but that is what it would be, I'll also have the rest of the kit (rear bumper and side skirts) installed by the time any paint goes on..

Good to hear you are making progress. And as for the paint scheme and color. That would definitely be one of a kind.

Not much progress yet, just small stuff I can tear into in my crappy storage shed of a garage. I will be moving into a house at the end of May where I will be able to actually work on the car and then you'll see some real progress

The z32 trans torn down to get the bellhousing machined

Here is part of the previous transmission issue, there are also numerous ball bearings floating around in the old trans

Maybe I can have it back together by the 2 year mark

Finally got the 300zx transmission bolted in last month, currently waiting for a driveshaft to get made now that I know the dimensions..

In the meantime, I did this:

Pretty happy with the results
