question about JSK fuel rail

Hey everybody, I am wondering what I need to put on the fittings on my JSK fuel rail. As where, I don't have any fuel leaks and such. I am just getting a rough idea, and preparing myself. When I get my motor back in, and start hooking things back up. So anyway any input, and or advice you could give me. Would be much appreciated, and thanks.

I pretty much have an idea, on how I am going to mount it. After eliminating the original trombone and such. I just want to make sure, I don't have any surprises, when I get my Z running here soon. Hopefully this weekend, but if not. Definately the next one coming up.

AutoZone has a couple different thread sealers. I think I used one by RTV (comes in a white tube). Whatever you get, just make sure it says it will withstand contact w/ fuel.

If you want to get technical, You do not need to seal a pipe thread joint. Pipe threads are an interference fit, the angle of taper is greater on the male end than on the female to a very small amount. Teflon tape, and the white stuff are basically lubricants to allow you to screw the fitting together enough to make it seal, Rectorseal, is a sealant and is used mainly on natural gas lines. It bonds to skin right away and takes a helluva lot of scrubbing to get off. Hey, you ever take a pipe fitting apart right after assembling it and notice that almost all of the teflon tape has dissappeared? WTF?

I just got me an aftermarket fuel rail too. The thing I'm concerned about is the size of the rubber hoses that I would need to run from the filter to the rail, and from the rail to the metal return line. I always thought the stock rubber hose lines were some odd size like 5/16", while the aftermarket fuel rail fittings were intended for 3/8". If that's the case, then I wouldn't be able to run 3/8" hose to the fuel filter or metal return line fitting without having sealing issues. Has anyone dealt with this part before?

If that is the case, then you buy 5/16" hose and stretch it that extra 16th of an inch over the fuel rail fitting. That's only a 32nd of an inch more on each side. Rubber hoses are suppose to be soft. With the barbed fitting, it would probably seal fine even without a hose clamp. (but I'm using clamps)

Dont all the fittings screw into the fuel rail? You should be able to get 3/8 pipe to 5/16 barb fittings at a hardware store, or if you want to get fancy go to Vic Hubbard in Hayward, and they can get you stainless steel ones, im pretty sure.
