Random Thought & question...
I'm just wondering why nissan never decided to change the engine in the z's and keep the I6 going on through the 300zx etc. by making it an DOHC? Seems like it would have given them more options and prolonged the I6 for longer. I'm no engine expert so forgive me if its a stupid question, just seems like it would have been the way to go similar to what the supra had... I dunno just curious like the title says its a random thought.

There's no simple answer as many variables go into engineering an entire car. Most argue that an I6 has more benefits than a V6, but engineers still have to balance quality, cost, and efficiency, with other things...

Ya good point, I'm sure they must have considered it....maybe lol. I love the I6 but man just seems DOHC with it would open up alot more.

Time to build yourself a triple dissected KA24DE head for the L28E.

Nissan changed the engine to the V6 for cost mainly. sense the VG was being used in more cars then the I6 was. Tho Originally, the RB engines were meant for the Z cars in replacement of the outdated L engine, instead of a V6. But the I6 would have pushed the cost of the Z up much more, and take it out of the category of the cheap sports car.
Lotta Variables really but I think thats the main issues.
