REALLY need quick correct answer...

Ok, the "great" deal I got on an AFM from Ebay for $29 turned out to be a turbo AFM, and it seems to pin out differently and the intake/out-take (whatever) is larger, since it IS a turbo. Can I get this to work on my '82 na??? I waited a week for this SOB, and it turns out the guy didn't advertise it as a turbo AFM, so now I'm REALLY up sh*t creek, unless I can either get this to work, or get one in the next day or two that will...

What would you guys do (other than killing the guy for not posting it was for a turbo. I need solutions...)

Thanks heaps, fellas

Carl

w/o adjusting it, your engine will run super rich. I imagine you can adjust down the spring to make it less rich, but I personally haven't done it.

Another option is to re-sell it on ebay listed as a Turbo AFM. They usually sell for more than $30.

Ok, here's what I found out. I called a friend that has worked for Nissan for 30+ yrs, especially with Z's, and he says "No Way". I also asked him if he had one, and he said he did somewhere, but to call him tomorrow about it, and said it was a Nissan rebuilt one that he picked up. Hopefully I won't have to pay a left nut for it! I'll let ya'll know...

Carl

PS: Nismo, what the heck is that middle GIF about???

BTW, here's the link for the AFM that was bought. If you guys see where it says "TURBO" anywhere, let me know...

Carl, i've got a perfectly good NA AFM from my 81. I'm swapping in a turbo motor and I dont need it. If you want to pay the shipping I'll send it out to you. Then you can just resale that turbo one and make yourself a few bucks It's just going to sit on a shelf so I figure you need a lot more than I do. Let me know.

Well, ya'll should be glad to hear that JFairlady's AFM did the trick, and the car started right up after sitting for a week and a half. Kinda "pops" a bit when I let off the gas, but it'll work itself out. Nice AFM, too. I think it's the one he rebuilt, if I'm not mistaken. Props to JFairlady! He's the man of the day, and one cool hombre!!

yes you can make it work...its been done many times...like people mentioned above you have to swap out the guts and then calibrate the spring...but since you have no time, dont mess with it just get a NA one..
