Rear Differential Questions

SO I have been off the site for probably almost a year now, but I have decided to gfix my Z after it's rear differential was killed due to someone doing something stupid

Question:
Does a rear diff from a 2 seater work/bolt up and work with a 2+2?
Also the 2 seater is a 5spd and the 2+2 is not.

the 2+2 is the one that needs the diff!
thanks! I plan to tear into it tonight because of the wonderful weater.

be careful when pulling the diff for the first time, they get you off guard. also dont forget the mustache bar bolts as well.

I will be. my buddy and I just finished swapping a 4.10 lsd to a 4.10 locker for his bmw so I have the general idea of what must be done I guess.

Hoov100 is correct............they will sit up there defying you to pull them down and, just when you decide it won't come down and reach for a different tool, it will fall on it's own.

easy if you keep a floor jack underneath it so when you unbolt it all you can gently lower it to the ground as long as you balance them. they get heavy just sitting underneath them holding them up >_<

OK I just did this last weekend, but going the other way. The coupe rear end should be a 3.7 and the 2+2 is a 3.5 or 3.11, so if you are going from the coupe into the 2+2 you are going to notice you wont have as much top end. You have to swap the pinion flange where it bolts to the drive shaft when the diff is out of the car. Drive shafts are different between the 2+2 and the coupe. If you dont you will have to yank it back out of the car, I found that out the hard way. I have to do this all over again because I got the 3.5 in the car and the main bearing sounds like a jet powering up on the runway. So back out it comes this weekend
