Rear Strut Posts
Ok, I just replaced my rear struts, and here's my question:
On the center post at the top, where the single nut is holding the top onto the coil (just under the tower cap), is there a measurement that is normal for that nut to be down from the top? My thought is that the closer the nut is to the top, the higher the rear will be (kind of). It's hard to explain, but I'm sure someone out there knows what I mean, right
Thanks...
Carl

When I swapped out my suspension i just made sure it was good and tight, i might have counted threads from when i took the old ones off but since my springs were shorter i'm not sure if that worked. But if you tighten it down farther it shouldn't lower your car any noticible difference and you don't want the nut to be higher than where the top center post is tight on the spring. Since you are still using stock spring you could count threads but if you have already swapped them them just make your best judgement of what they were before and do the exact same to both right and left

See, that's the thing. I'm not really sure where they were, and I'm not sure if the previous owner knew anything anyway. It just seems to me that when you tighten that nut, that your compessing the spring at the same time. I may be wrong, but from what I can see, that seems to be the way it is. And if that's the case, then why not leave it as "loose" as possible (while everything seems tight anyway), and put a second nut on it to keep the first nut on and gain the height (whatever height can be gained)?!
This just seems logical to me...
