Rear Windshield wiper

My 1981 280zx 2+2 rear windshield wiper does not work. I can freely move the wiper up and down. Fuse is good, but doesn't activate from switch. Do I need a new wiper motor, and if I do, how much is a new one.

Thanks
Tim

Did you check the switch with a meter to make sure it is working? Double check the connections too, they have a tendency to loosen or corrode. I have an extra used motor that works IF you find out that it's the problem.

I go to autozone.com to see if the part is available and a general idea what it costs.

I have been there before..lol I will bet...that if you pull out your switch a little ways. Not all the way out...your rear wiper will work. Try that and get back to us. It has happened with me...and pretty much with all my Z's.

you say it moves freely but can you move it further than where it would wipe?
like arround in a circle

Re: Rear wiper

WildmaN

You were right, I pulled on the switch about a quarter of the way out and the wiper worked. So is that a new switch or still a new wiper motor or just leave it alone. Thanks everyone.

New head gasket!

actually, that should be the switch. It might be possible to clean the contacts inside the switch and get it to work better.
