road kill damage

To make along story short, I wasnt able to avoid a large piece of road kill and it hit and pulled down and back the rear piece of metal just in front of the rear sway bar ( looks to be a unibody support? 2 bolts on each side, about 3 inches wide and maybe 2 ft long ).
Now my question is how important is this and can I drive without it until I get another one? Or do I even need one

is it that flat crossmember that goes under the driveshaft just in front of the diff?
ya you need that. its like a lower strut brace kinda thing. I'll help stiffen the frame. I can pull one from my parts car but probably not this weekend. I guess I'll have to see if I'm ready to pull the suspension... hmmm...

Thats the one. Is it safe to drive without it just till I get another one? I can go to a local yard and get one, but I cant drive with it as it sits now as its still bolted on but hangs way to low.

ya I think the car would be fine to drive without it. Just don't do any autocross type driving.

I can't believe you actually bent that thing! What the Hell did you run over... an elephant? Bigger question is, how did it manage to NOT destroy the air dam or anything else before it got to that cross member??? I'd say you got lucky. Still sucks though

I bent that on my old car when putting it on a trailer once. When I got the car home I just took it off, beat it flat with a hammer, and put it back on. No problems from it after that.

Anyone hungry?

Made a trip to closest yard with no luck. I would have made the 30 mile odd trip to the next one, but my stomach wasnt have'n it. I was f*cken hungry. So with that in mind I took a look under there to check it all out in the daylight and low an behold . . .meat!!
For now I'll probably hammer it out and then grab one later.

Looks like the inside edge's of your rear tires are just about smoked! Time to start thinking about some new kicks.
