so my "fasten seatbelt" light on the dash randomly turned on while driving, and it won't turn off now. It stays on the whole time the car is running and doesn't shut off till I shut the car off. Any ideas what would cause this? I don't think there is any sensor actually hooked up to the belt receiver like on newer cars, usually I can drive around without the belt and the light will turn off regardless. Now it stays on whether the belt is on or off. No big deal but it's just weird

But I would check under the seat anyways to see if a wire came lose as I "think" there might be a sensor in it, if not its a timer or something thats fried itself. If all else fails you could just remove the bulb

 

yeah, that's what I'm gonna do is just pull the bulb, i just found it pretty odd and didn't know if was something anyone else has heard of before. Heh, and i do usually wear my seat belt now it saved me in my accident over the summer when i just happened to have it on for some random reason

 

Check under the seat, there are wires.

 

it's plugged in under the seat. I checked the connections, made sure the wires weren't bare or kinked or anything but nothing was wrong. The problem ended up just going away on its own a couple days ago anyways. I had assumed that that plug didn't really do much as neither of my 81's ever made a difference whether i had my belt on or not. The light only turns on at startup and goes away after a few seconds. Old cars are funny.

Now I'm having all sorts of other electrical demons though...
