shady's racecar thread *pics*
well ive been working on the paul newman racecar build some more so i figured might as well show you guys whats up. plus its been a little slow here, maybe it will inspire others to work on their own cars as well. the first photos are of it taking a nap on its side. its been great working on it like this to scrape all the undercoat off!! i then por-15'd the underside and it looks stunning. then i sanded the whole inside and painted it white. i removed the rear spare tire well due to rust, so there is an idea for you ppl if yours is rusted, as well as the lower quarter support is now level and doesnt dip down.
underside all nice and black, almost done, look way down, i havent flipped it yet to easily reach that.

and here is the engine bay, all unnessisary stuff is removed, for instance the battery tray, itll be mounted on the pass floor to get it lower and back, as well as out of the heat.

Nice work shady, I think were all jealous of that rotisery. Hell I wish I had a garage to work in! I like how it looks with no spare tire well(or battery tray), I might do that to mine if I put a fuel cell in it. Cleans it up real nice.

there are 2 diff stangs in the pic. the white one is a friend named kim, that car does low 11's. my bro was making custom headers for it. the pink one is my brothers and his gf's car. it does mid 12's. they are selling it to campain a 67 camaro instead. he entropy, that stang is even faster now. they lightened it and put in rollor internals and al. heads, plus a bigger cam, it was high 13's when you were here. that white one is stupid fast

Nice work Shady. There's nothing like a rotisserie to make the restoration work easier. For those of you who wish you had one, if you've got the room, you can easily fabricate one out of a couple of engine stands. The rotisserie takes a lot of the tedium and back pain out of doing a "bare metal" restoration like this and as Shady illustrates, a parked car takes up a LOT less space when it's on it's side!

not to mention all the parts that come off have to go somewhere. for those that have been to my shop, the upper floor above the spray booth is full. it will signifigantly empty when the car is done!!! i got the rotisserie for free from a friend, he didnt have space to store it, so he said, here use it til i need it!!! good friend. im working on hollowing out the doors now, that door beam is huge, of course more pix to follow.

im just going to put sheet metal panels up there and weld them in after the cage goes in. that way i can weld the top of the cage with ease. im going to have to create the proper roof line where the seal goes. although there will be no windows, i still want it to look correct

i only go to my shop every monday, for about 8 hours or so. plus i do have other projects on the go as well. some little piddly crap i dont bother taking pix, like the crap i bead blast etc. i have an aluminum flywheel coming from nj soon. only cost 100 bux plus shipping. i mounted a door the steering column and pedals finger tight to see how much room there is. i have a seat in there just to see, but its acrappy seat, i need a nice one, but im waiting on the roll cage guy to come by and measure everything. should be early jan when he comes.
