Snow Tires
Ok, since the weather decided to go from kinda bad, to horrible around here. I'm wondering what are some good snow tires you guys would recommend. I figure I might as well get them as I'm sure it should help.

I've heard the Blizzaks are really good, but I hear they're not so hot when the roads are clear, where as I hear the Dunlop M3s are not quite as good as Blizzaks in snow, they're better when the roads are clear.

I've heard nothing but good about the Blizzaks too. Main thing to look for in a snow tire is small lugs and lots of them. Studs help a lot on ice, but don't help at all on packed snow. Blizzaks with studs (if they can be drilled and studded) would be awesome I think. What vehicle are you trying to find winter tires for? Not too many snow tires are going to give you handling as good as a normal weather performance tire. I usually have 2 sets of tires and wheels for anything 2wd that I have to drive in the winter. I usually swap on the winter tires in the begining of Nov. and put my good weather tires back on around mid March, so having 2 sets already mounted saves me time and money. The way I see it, I'm much safer with a tire that gives me max traction in the messy stuff and slowing down on good roads, than buying a tire that I know isn't going to give me as much traction in the messy stuff just so I can drive faster when the roads are clear.

I'm looking for snow tires for my ZX. My thing is here in Ohio are weather is so bizzare, we'll have tons of snow, ice, barely any traction then two days later we'll have a string of 50+ degree days right back into cold, ice, snow.

We got a little snow last night (about an inch), still comming down right now. Looks like my ZX is going to be parked for a while until it clears up some (most likely next March lol). Today's going to be the test run for the wife driving her awd Talon to work in the snow, did ok so far on a little bit of ice the past few days though, so she should do fine.

We haven't gotten any snow here okay thanksgiving break I guess it might have snowed but I was gone and came back and there was none. Poor Colorado
But to relate to your snow tires. I would also suggest finding ones that do better in the snow than on the dry. Just not being able to stop or turn once could be the end of your car in the snow. How often under normal driving circumstances are you unable to stop or turn?

I think it's time to change the sig. I dun have the vans anymore. One was totaled when a kid ran into me in his corolla, and the other was sold to my brother. Besides I've been por-15ing spots, and I'm making a habit to spray the car down a good bit, the main plan was to this summer swap the engine over to an S30, so I figured running the body through the winter wouldn't be that big a deal. Also with my newer job that I've been doing I'll actually have money to be able to buy a decent year round car. Like E says, maybe a honda or be like bleach and get a pulsar. Or I'll get one of those 86-87 Honda's that look like the 86' Toyota Corolla and tell everyone it's the Initial D car.
