soo.. body question!

alright just bought my first z's. if youve seen my other post you know ive got an 82 white n/a driver and an 83 blue n/a parts car.

heres what im wondering. ive been noticing the like 78 and older front ends.. i love the grille they have and the look of their fronts.. is there a difference in the hoods/ headlight bezels etc.. ? like if i wanted to swap to an older front end what all would i have to do? just curious because i know of an older car in a junkyard with a complete front end so let me know guys!

Yes... comparing them side by side you can see the differences.

By asking this question, I'll just say it's too much work for you.

If you want the look of an S30, get an S30.

the best thing you could do is mabe put some s30 bumpers on a zx but even that is going to take some extensive work and even then it might not turn out a clean as you, well, I would imagine...

the front of a 280ZX is longer and wider. You do the math.

2 + 2 = 2by2

ummm 5? where just saying numbers right?

and yeah the 78 and earlier are a completly different chassis and everything than the 79-83 the only thing they have that is shareable is drive lines, motors tranny driveshaft and rear diff. google S130 in the images and S30 the S30 is the older of the two and you will see how very different they are. if you like the older style Z which many do then just buy that. it really is a big waste to try to convert the look and have a car that looks like the older version has the same power plant but weighs more. lol. its kinda like going backwards.... any ways im sure you'll make the right choice.

Hey..there is nothing wrong with asking. That is one way you learn. As for front ends. It just wouldn't be worth all the time and work. To put a S30 front end on your S130. Just get a body kit. And paint it how you want. It automatically makes the 280zx more sleeker. And modern looking.

As for s30's. When I ever do get one. The first thing to go will be the bumpers and such. And put a nice body kit on it. I never much cared for S30 bumpers and such.

The best thing the 280ZX has going for it are vastly improved aerodynamics. That's part of the reason why the front end looks like it does. There's a reason why it's far more stable at higher speeds than the earlier Zs. Also it has 50/50 weight distribution.

Hi,
If you remove the front bumper and fit a grille your 280ZX would look like the red 280ZX in this photo!......

Lol thanks guys I bever really looked at the dimensions ice only checked out pictures so now that I know the differences I will most likely try to find a body kit that actually looks good. Most of the ones I've seen I don't really have a taste for. Thanks though. And that picture I can't see because I'm not a member there.

This be the pic. From straight on the 280zx looks good bumperless, but from any other angle it just looks weird.
