Spare Motors

So last weekend I bought some parts from a guy for the interior of my 280zx. Turns out he has two motors with intakes and accessories that he is wanting to get ride of. He said one had 150,000 and the other had 180,000 on it when pulled. My motor is running strong but has over 210,000 miles on her already. He said he would give me the motors for $30 for both. Would it be smart to get them?

Wouldnt hurt to have them. But theses motors have known to go on 300K and keep going if well kept and maintained.

I was thinking it would be nice to have all of the accessories, injectors, etc on hand even. I could even pull an exhaust stud for my current motor. Then if my current motor started to get tired I could start working on one to replace it.

Oh I didnt think it came with all the electronics on them too. ya grab them up. spare injectors are always handy. along with sensors and stuff. And you could slowly build one up as a replacement.

I am going to try getting them this weekend if all goes well. I think I will kick my self latter if I don't. I just wish I had more room to put things. Maybe I will have to make a coffee table out of them for the garage until I need to rebuild one...then i and replace it with the swapped out engine and always have a cool piece of garage art.

If you weren't so far. I would try and get one of those from you. I need a good running engine, for my '83.

How much do these motors weigh roughly? When I go get them how many buddies do I need to help lift them into my truck?

A full motor w/ intake, exhaust, and accessories will weigh several hundred lbs. I suggest bringing an engine hoist.

Exactly what I did. I started going through my other motor while still driving my Z. It was real nice every time a sensor would go bad or even if I snapped a bolt I had one right there.
