Stereo Wiring Woes

Stereo Wiring Woes [SOLVED]
Alright so the wiring harness I cut from the factory radio has two harnesses actually, an 8-pin connector using all 8 pins and a 6-pin, using 5 of the pins. The factory manual does not specify where 2 pins of the 8 pin harness go and 3 pins of the 6 pin harness. I have no idea where to connect live or accessory terminals and cannot find anywhere on the web with answer. I have an '82 Turbo GL model with the electronic tuner.
All help is appreciated.

this may set you on the right path, i was looking at a wiring diagram, were you talking about the 3 connectors (8 pin, 6 pin and 2 pin) that plug directly into the "Radio (Electronic tuner)"?

I'm not sure if it differed from the non-GL, from what i understand they only had the analog radio and the digital radio. so your trying to find the wire thats constantly on, and the wire thats on when it's in accessory mode? its pretty easy to find even without a diagram, if you have a muiltimeter just test to see when each pin gets power at each state, or check a later model diagram, i believe the 83 model has a pretty good wiring diagram.

www.xenons130.com will give you the wireing diagram specific to your model....

I've already checked out Xenon's page and it didn't help, however my Haynes manual came on Friday and that was pretty much I needed to see. Deck works great, 30 year old speakers aren't too good though haha.

That's strange since a most of the info in the Haynes manual comes from the FSM...

Go to harbor freight, buy a test light for seven dollars, hook the alligator clip to ground, and hook the pointy end to the battery positive, to make sure the test light works, you know its working if the light in it turns on, next individually connect the pointy end to each one of those 5 pins, the one that is always on is the one for power, the one that is only on in accessory mode is the one that tells the radio to turn on.

Crutchfields
I got an adapter from crutchfields that plugs directly into my Z31 radio harness, since I'm parting my car, I removed the entire stereo harness I made on the last install and just need to drop it in my new Z and connect it up, will be a lot easier than the 1st time. I'm running 2 external amps, so I didn't use the speaker connectors on the harness, as you can see the right white connector has the speaker wires wrapped up with tape. The black box to the right of the connector is a noise suppression device, I had one on the stereo, and a larger one on my main amp, not really needed on the sub amp.
