stupid people

I think I am surrounded by stupid people. Today I was painting my heat shields, the ones that goes under the manifold and by the master cylinder. I was trying different colors to see what would look the best. White, black and red. I had them at the end of my driveway. About a foot or so behind my Civic. I am in the garage walking out to hit them again and my neighbor about 2 houses down. Comes down the street and moves to purposely run em over. So after he ran em over with his big lifted Z32, I threw a paint can and hit the rear quarter panel of his truck. Left a nice half moon dent and scratches. . So he stops and gets out and starts yelling. I asked him why he ran my shields over. He said, oh I didn't see em. Bright white and red on a black surface . So after more words were exchanged, he calls non emergency and gets a cop down there. I went back in the garage to continue working. The cop comes and talks to him first. They come and get me out of the garage. The cop starts asking me about why I threw a can at his truck. I showed him the run over parts, that have not moved since he ran em over. So the cop asks him why he ran my parts over and he said I didn't do that. I point to the paint stains on his tire, the cop takes one of my now bent to hell shields and puts it next to the tire, yep perfect match and the paint is the same color. So he starts changing his story, oh I didn't see em. And I asked him why he was driving so close to my car anyways. He gets all mad and starts swearing and goes to get in his truck and leave. The cop stops him and asks him for his liscence and registration. He starts swearing some more, so the cop calls for assistance. He finally hands over his liscence, It turns out to be revoked, the insurance is lapsed. No insurance. So they give him a ticket for driving w/ a revoked liscence, his 5th offence, no insurance, and reckless driving. And since in Nevada, no insurance is a major no no. They towed the truck. Since it was still parked in the street, where he left it. The cops would not allow him to drive it the 15 feet, to his driveway, since he had no liscence and no insurance. And his wife was not home to move it, they towed it. And now I got a pissed off neighbor, who is still threatning to sue me for damages I got to call this officer tomorow to go get a copy of the police report, cause if he does try to take me to court, I'll need it to defend myself. And I now have to go to the junk yard and try and find these shields. So I am a little annoyed at how retarded some people can be.

Thanks for understanding. Yeah it will suck. I can't imagine why he did it in the first place. Just felt like destroying something?? Knew he was driving illegal, and call the cops?? Then to turn around and lie to em and be a dick?? I ended up having 3 squad cars and a tow truck in front of my house. For something that should not have happened in the first place. I do admit and told the cops the same thing, I could have handled it different, but right then and there I didn't think, I just threw. And his reward for being a dick is, having his truck impounded, and 3 tickets, 1 I know for sure is a mandatory court, and I think the driving 1 is too. I don't like cops anymore than most people, but I allways try to be civil to em. The officer that was there first, even told the guy, that if he would have been civil, he would have let him drive the truck to the driveway. But since he had to act like a bada$$ and made him call these other 2 officers, the truck now gets towed. I didn't hear all the other stuff, I just went back into the garage, but from what I did hear, he was pissed off. They did threating to take him to jail a couple times, if he didn't calm down. I did hear that they would release the truck after the towing charge got payed, and had a valid driver, and the truck had to have insurance before it got released. And insurance out here is not cheap. And I got a pissed off neighbor, that is all mad at me, and I really didn't do anything wrong. And will hate me for ever.

Yeah, but I don't wanna call. I don't want a pissed off neighbor. It only adds undue stress. I hate having to worry about is he going to get me, when is he, where is he?? If I leave my freshly painted car outside?? That is the true problem!!

Motion activated Webcam pointed at your driveway that takes a picture every second or two.

That way, you'll have a record of any vandalism he may perpetrate on your property.

I'm afraid the damage is done. Anyone with that kind of attitude was just looking for a traget for their frustration at all the misery their pitiful life has delt them.

That guy was just looking for a target for his 'righteous vengence' and I'm afraid you are it. I freakin' hate little sh!theads like that.

Sounds to me like the guy is just a sociopathic moron with no regard for anyone or anything but himself. You'd do best just to keep your distance. People like that will alway's try and have the final word (or action) regardless of the reprecussions. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't pursue it. It'll probably just make the guy gun for you that much harder. On the bright side, people like that are alway's their own worst enemy and he will eventually reap what he has sown. Karma can be a wonderful thing!

Hey LV

Rod's right that its best to stay away. The guy might try to have the last word in.... but then you need to know what you can do to prevent it.

To me, the matter that he originally called the cops about is pretty much dead, atleast with them, other wise you would be charged as well as him for causing damage to each other's property.

What he's going to court for is his own doing, (the license, insurance etc all his own fault), although he may blame you for it.

My advice is to phone the police and see if they will make a separate report regarding your concerns that the neighbour may take revenge for what happened. No police attendence is usualy necessary and they may do it depending on their policies, you might have to give them a statement being a written account of why you think he might do it. Ask for a talk with the original cop who attended that day and explain your own concerns. Ask him if he would provide a statement of his observations of this idiot's behavior on that day. Obviously your neighbour was bad enough for the cop to call for back up. If you ask nice he'll help ya. Remember all cops are people first, Some are good others are better.

Then more importantly, keep a record of any undesirable activity involving this neighbour and your house, Including him driving by and giving you or any family members dirty looks etc, and any words said by him at any time to you. Write them down verbatim, just as he said them and his tone. note down the dates and times for each separate occurance. Keep this all on separate piece of paper(s).

Ask your 'good" neighbours to keep a watch out for your property.

This record and the two police reports will serve as your basis to apply for a restraining order in court if the need arises. If he breaches that order by doing anything stupid then as per CDN law he goes to jail. I dont know how long he's lived near you or how long you know him but he will be a fool to think you will let him run all over you and not do something about it.

As far as I am concerned, you have already shown him you are not any one to mess around with and he at that time felt the cops could deal with it better.
That is why he called them rather then threatening you to "watch your back" etc. I seriously doubt he will confront you again about this but in case he does, make it your business to know how to protect yourself legaly. Go to the local courthouse and find out how to go about getting a restraining order on a neighbour.

Dont think for one minute that if you hadn't thrown that paint can, this may not have hapenned. Yeah, as you already said, maybe there was another way to deal with it but having said that...always know that he was the cause. Another day he might have sideswiped your only transportation and maybe as an uninsured driver without a license he might have given you headaches about the repair etc...who knows...anyway

and past that dont fret bud. He knows you got more paint cans laying about! Maybe he'll change his way in and out of the neighbourhood.

Man that sucks that this guy is your neighbor and all, we've had problems with our neighbors before when i lived in AZ but they ended up moving out... i wonder why

Anyways if this guy does anything else you might be able to get a restraining order against him which will get him in deep **** with the police if he bothers you again... but then if he doesn't do anything again i would just let it be

Oh and when you do find some replacement heat shields for the Z just paint them black

What sucks is if he ever does do anything in retaliation you've got witness it or have someone else witness it. Otherwise the cops will "just look into it" Hopefully, for both of you, he'll just let it be and accept he made a stupid mistake and get on with it. I had someone throw a floor jack through the windshield of my car once. I didn't see it happen cause I was in the house but my neighbor came over and told me about it cause they saw the whole thing. So I called the police and told them what happened. They asked if I saw who did. I said No but I had a witness. As soon as I hung up the phone my neighbor said he couldnt talk to the police cause he had a warrant for his arrest. Great. So the cops showed up and I had to tell them the witness took off and I didn't know his name. So the bitch got away with it. Woman can pretty vicious when you **** them off Oh well, I sold a bunch of her stuff to pay for the windshield to be replaced and threw the rest of her stuff away. Not that it mattered to her, she never came back for any of it.

I feel for you. It's bad when you have a neighbor who is such a jerk. However, if he does any followup actions they could result in him going to jail and hopefully he will be smart enough to let it go since he started it. You didn't say if you both own your home? If your lucky he rents and after he goes to court it will be even longer before he gets his driver's licence back. Some of the other suggestions above are good deterances. The best one is the security camera. Sams has one that's not that expensive & you can hook up a VCR and run a tape a day (prob only need 2 or 3 tapes) if nothing is done then use it again. I am lucky here as I know all my neighbors and we get along. Oh, I am also a personal friend of our Chief of Police too. Anyways I wish you the best of luck and a Happy New Year.

Too true. Unless he's REALLY stupid, and I'm not just talking A-Hole stupid, but genuine retard stupid, then he's not going to mess with you in an unlawful way. He might exchange words now and then but unless he wants to go to jail he'll probably stear clear from causing any more damage. The cops have already screwed him once, I doubt he wants to go through with that again. Just dont double park your car where he'll see it or have any loud parties where he can get the cops on you I think you'll be alright. He's already had his run in with the law so he knows things arent always going to turn out in his favor. Hopefully he just remembers that and doesn't think its worth the risk. I have a feeling if you avoid him he'll leave it be.

All is quiet for now, I have not seen him at all. And his truck is still not back from what I have seen.

And from a earlier question, yes I own my house, I don't know about him though. I bought mine in 99. Everytime I walk my dog now, I see the curtains move, as if someone is watching me. But, all is quiet for now. I just hope he lets it go and is not just sitting there plotting.
