Swap engine or have it rebuilt????

#1: I keep deleting your post in the write up thread because it's quite obvious you didn't read it. Nor did you see this in your other post:

#2: WHY do you need to rebuild your "car" (I assume you mean "engine") ?
#3: It's a VG30 motor (there are actually 4 of them... VG30E, VG30ET, VG30DE, VG30DETT). None of them are a realistic choice for a 280zx chassis.

It is possible for it. It is it. What is it? It is it.... opps sorry just rocking out to some Faith No More...
This is the single asked 48.723 bazzilion times question on every Z car forum going. The L28ET is cheap and easy to swap almost to being a no brainer. If someone has to ask about how to get an RB26 to fit in it's probably not a project you're going to want to take on. An NA VG30E isn't worth swaping in. A VG30ET isn't a significant gain over an L28ET and way more custom modding. A VG30DE is a good but not worth while. Haven't seen a VG30DETT - seems like a lot of work when you can get 300HP from an L28ET with way less effort...

Craigslist
Ebay
Even here on our own forums: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/sale-...ts-cars-35024/
Two turbo motors, two turbo transmissions, literally everything you need for the swap.

Um your friendly local machine shop ! Drives me crazy hearing "dude its got XXXX miles" have you considered its got that many because its a hell of a motor? Next the 300zx v6 engines are like you telling us your putting in a power stroke desiel. Doesn't make any sence to go through the swap when 1200. Gets you a fresh 2.8? That um you can get 300k all over again. Lastly I got my turbo engine upgraded and rebuilt and every bolt in the car replaced body painted for $11764.78 lol first pick a budget and have some commen sence. Hey anyone know where I can buy a 460 for my tempo?

Honestly I'm with my hermit !! In my mind the last true Z had a straight 6. Myself I wouldn't even want that 300zx series engines. Gives me that icky 3.1 / 3.4 GM vibes Granted People may hate me for saying that but I do recall they had they're fair share of known problems the T/T well you may just want to save money and buy a 370z once you drop a turbo.

The main issue with turbo swaps is firewall clearance. The turbo z's from factory have a firewall thats recessed a few extra inches to make room for the turbo.
A quick search in google or any zcar forum for 2"80zx turbo conversion" will outline in detail what it takes to do it.

^^^ There's no firewall fitment issue. All LHD 280zx firewalls are the same. The only fitment issue is if the car is a 79-81 and has the steering box instead of rack & pinion. In that case the turbocharger wastegate bracket has to be cut, or swap to rack & pinion.
But yes, please SEARCH. This topic has been discussed so much, the horse died about 5 years ago.

Unless you search enough, you're better off buying an L28ET instead of gathering parts to fit them to your L28E, you may actually end up spending more money to retrofit your old motor, than just buying a new one.
