Re: Thinking of buying a 1981 280ZX
Rust would be the primary thing, but I have found a few others over the last month. I found basically the same thing that you found, '82 280ZX, but it hadn't been started in 2 1/2 years, so unless you know the current owner, ask how much its been driven over the last couple years or more. Check and see if there is any sign of fuel leakage at the injectors, check fuel lines and hoses, check the oil, rear differential seal, any kind of leaks and so on, so far on mine its been the clutch, break and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave, injector insulators, and injector seals, and there will be some front end work because all the dust boots have pretty much worn away. But the price sounds pretty good and if your looking to have the fun of fixing it up, then go for it.
