I've already invested like 1.3k into it (registration+insurance+parts), I wish I could but I can't right now.

Plus with a new flywheel my car will work.

Maybe if he keeps it around he could fix it, or maybe if I'm lucky once I have the cash I'll buy it off of him.

I'm still looking, I called up the kid who sold me the car he said he had a 280z parts car incase I ever needed parts.

Gonna ask him for his flywheel, he said he'd give me parts forfree whenever but I'll pay him at least a little something.

I don't feel like hijacking thxone's topic anymore, but I'll go ahead answer your question.

He said he'd give it to me for free but that it's pretty messed up most liekly, and he doesn't feel like pulling the engine and transmission just to find out. Most of his car is junked so it makes sense.

I think he's gonna try to put one last breath of life in it and go LS1 on it, I hope his 280z can hold out, the rust is a lot worse than my 280zx.

Well the horrid screeching is not the power steering pulley or pump or idler pulley. Which leaves the water pump, Alternator, AC compressor pulley and the last idler pulley. I have to say I am a little baffled, I am hoping it is not the water pump as it is new. The sound, if I move around the front of the car, seems to be anywhere from the middle too the passenger side. The power steering has been leaking on the alternator for some time but I don't know how that would hurt any bearings. Now I can see the old water pump spraying rusty water on everything hurting bearings and now they are finally shot. The engine is running fine though, even when it starts screeching it is running fine.

I am going to take the belt off the A/C and A/C idler pulley...if that helps I am good, if not then I will loosen the Alt and see if that is the problem. If this doesn't help me find the noise then it might be the water pump, timing chain or the fan. I hope it is not the latter 3. Strangely I am not upset about the noise...maybe cause I get to work on my car again...I don't know. Also...I think the power steering pump from the '79 N/A will fit on the '82 Turbo, the mounting bracket is a little different but the the mounting bolts are in the same place. The high pressure line is in a different spot but the threads look the same...I am going to swap and find out...I can always put it back. I think the pulley for the '79 PS pump is larger than the Turbo one.

Well, I will come back on here when I have more updates on this situation. I wish I could have pulled more things off the Gold '82 before it went bye bye.

Ok so I am about 90% sure it is the alternator making all the noise. I remember that the one on my '79 is the one from my gold '82....I am going to swap it along with the PS pump from the '79.

LOL, I have no belts on my car whatsoever!! I am also 100% positive now that the screech was coming from the alternator. It will be replaced with a brand new one tomorrow after work. It figures it would be the last belt/item I checked. I was going to pull the one off my '79 but I get paid tomorrow for a full week so it's time for a brand new one...plus I want to keep the '79 running...just in case.

I got my BOV today and my big *** drill bit. The BOV looks cool, i guess you can change the spring inside of it. Gonna do my best to get it on the car tomorrow and I will post pics or maybe a vid....maybe both as soon as it is done.

It's funny, your alternator is having problems just as mine starts dieing to. It was getting really bad, my head lights, gauge lights, etc were all flickering with my blinker, and at stop lights my radio's sound would go lower and my gauge lights would get really dim, but when I'd start driving then it'd be ok. Although it didn't charge my battery well.

E is correct, the AA is for size reference. For mounting it I am going to use that big *** stepped drill bit and make me a nice big 1" hole in my J-pipe (cringe) then I am going to take a 1" metal plumbing pipe that is threaded on one end and screw it in there and seal it. This pipe will be only long enough to be able to use the rubber coupler on it. I will also fab up a bracket to help hold the BOV in place. Once it is all ready I will paint the J-pipe and put it back in the car and mount the BOV as per the instructions that I never got with it (the only downfall of the purchase) It is a no-name brand but it is of good quality and was cnc'd and polished. It is all aluminum with a steel spring and brass valve. It has six 3/8" holes around the perimeter so it should be loud too. I paid $17 for it with $6.25 SH and it got here super fast. I am still keeping my fingers crossed on the working thing so I will let you know, but it seems to be fully functional.

So the BOV will be standing straight up? I think it's going to hit the hood. This was my setup I made on an 83 turbo I fixed & flipped.

WERD, thanks for that pic...of course I was going to mock it up first
I got the threaded pipe, hose clamps and the hose...I am assembling everything right as I type this to get some ideas. Hmmm, I may need to mount it somewhere else...it's long.

So you're going to WELD that on to the j-pipe right?
