Transmission swap?
#2
Yep. All L-Series transmissions can interchange w/ all L-Series motors. When swapping from auto to manual, you have to remove the crank to flexplate adapter to install the flywheel & clutch. You also have to do something w/ the inhibitor switch so you can start the car. I think Fubar made a thread about the auto to manual swap.
EDIT... oh yeah, don't forget to swap the driveline & diff flange too.

Ok I'll look for the thread in the mean time, how do I add that extra pedal? I take it the mounting locations already there?
Oh and I really should have said, will that transmission hold up?

you need the whole pedal assembly. i have a manual pedal assembly for an 82 i believe. errr... actually i mighta sold that already. now im not sure..... lol but its a brake and clutch pedal on the same assembly.

The 82 & 83 parts should be interchangable. The clutch/brake assembly is one piece & will mount to the frame under the dash. You will have to change the speed O cable probably. Also change out the ECU (computer). I also think there will be some wiring differences, but don't quote me on that. There are several indivs on the forum who know more about that than me. If you are going to swap out the tranny you might as well get an lighter flywheel (since you have to replace it anyways), as they sell on Ebay & several parts store the Alumimun (poor spelling), and get a racing clutch since I think you want a faster car? If you do your homework and not rush into the project you will be able to acquire all the parts & knowledge before starting the project. That will save you both time and money. Good luck and don't be afraid to as questions as that's how you learn. Dan
