Trying to get more info on 350 swap...
As some of you know I am planning a 350 swap into my 280zx. I have a few questions I still need answered.
-How much horsepower would a stock R200 differential be able to handle?
-How big would the radiator have to be?
You see I can pretty much do this swap by myself but I have no idea about the electronic work. I have no idea what to do with the old ecu. Where would I mount the electronic fuel pump? I can pretty much use all the help I can get with fuel delivery to the carb.
Looking foward to hearing from you guys. Thank you. Pete

If you're going to retain the mechanical fuel pump on the 350 then you can mount the primer pump in the same location as the 280zx pump. But you'd be better off just replacing the mechanical pump with an electric one. That way you've only got one pump to worry about and the wiring is really simple. Also, the CV axles are supposed to be stronger than the U-Joint axles that most 280zx's came with. The CV's came on all turbo models and some (maybe all ) 2+2's. As far as you 280zx ecu, toss it or save it in case somebody ever needs it. I save my ECU's should the need for one ever come up in the future.

my friend had a 350 in his zx, it was controled via his laptop in the car and he had the cv's to handle the power, the r200 diff is good for a little over 500hp from a v8, and a good 3 core rad is all you need. it was quick, holy cow, it was scary. it was actually ross from modern motorsports, untill somebody stole it and then i saw it in my town (an hour from his). i phone him and then he phoned the cops and a chase started and the guy rolled it into a pole. he ended up dying, but ross' rolling r+d lab was gone.

you can also use a camero radiator but you'd have to fab up some mounts. that is if your not planing on much power or racing it. other than that I would get a 3 core with an electric fan. Get the JTR swap book it comes in handy.

If Your Going Carb You Can Use The Stock Fuel Pump. It Supplies More Than Enough Pressure And Volume. And Just For That Reason
You Will Need To Install A -t- Just Before The Pressure Regulator
To Bleed Off Extra Pressure Back To The Fuel Return, Otherwise The Regulator Will Lock Up And Block Off Fuel And Make U Stall.
The Bleed Off Port On The -t- Has To Be Small , So You Can Still Retain Fuel Pressure.
On The R200, If Your Going With An Auto Trans. You Should Be Good Up To 600+tq.
With A Manual Trans You Can Easily Snap An Axle Or Yank The Teeth
Off The Ring And Pinion. Depending On How You Come Off The Line.
